I didn't realize that being a teacher automatically makes me a suspect for sexually abusing a child.

  3. Might be the first state to do that, but I know a lot of counties/parishes do that as well. I know my mom can't friend students on fb
  4. I think it was best said in the article, this bill does nothing to stop inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. It won't stop a teacher interested in doing sick shit with a a student because a law says that can't text or be on facebook.

As a teacher and coach, I don't keep any of my current players or students on facebook. I actually personally keep the same policy as the law, once you graduate from high school, sure why not. As a coach my major problem with this law is during the season and summer, I consistently text the team to update schedules, check in with them, etc. My understanding of this law would be that I could send out a mass text to the team, however if a player texted back asking about something else, or if they randomly texted me asking something, I couldn't legally respond.

Beyond this, yes teaching is a job. But at what point does an employer have a right to control their workers during non work hours. I think this would be grounds for the ACLU to challenge this law.
