If you are a Mitt supporter, why?
Do you think that he is the 'only' candidate running who can compete against the POTUS Obama? If so, why?
I'm just trying to figure out if there are Mitt supporters in OT, and if so, why?
Explain to me why Mitt would be better for America than 4 more years of POTUS Obama, if you will. -
He understands the issues facing regular people and how the economy works. Obama hates the poor and is a socialist.

doesnt matter who is competiting...if the economy is improving he will be re elected...if not then the republican will most likely win.

he wont...no one will...president is just a figurehead -
Why would Mitt understand the regular people better when he's never been one? He's a .05% with his income (not a joke, or twist of words, his income is in the top, top, top, top of all incomes).
I'm honestly not being coy. It is my biggest issue with Mitt's candidacy. He's never in his life been a 'regular' guy. He grew up in money, and will die with more money than almost everyone on this board combined together (active poster, including Niptuck and Dolphin, haha).
As a regular guy I look at Mitt and get exact opposite reaction. That he doesn't understand me, and never will because he's never been me. So when someone says the exact opposite it makes me wonder where our differences came about.
I mean, with the Bush / Obama bailouts it would seem that power has moved slightly away from just figurehead. Laws shifting power have changed the position since 9/11. Sadly. -
This might be the first time i dont vote for either party.
It seems like the older im getting, the more i hate each major party equally. -
I'm not a Mitt supporter, so I'm probably not qualified to answer. But, I'll try anyway.

My guess is that the people who support Romney will do so because 1) they want Obama removed at all costs; 2) they're rich and know he'll protect their interests.
It's difficult to make a compelling case for Romney as POTUS (prob the reason you created this thread?). -
I'm just trying to figure out what is going on with this election process.
-
ill only be voting for him because he'll bring some power back to the party i support but I really wish it was gonna be somebody else instead
-
this appears to show some kind of failure of the process
a candidate no one can really support is getting the support
but why? He's just the best of the worst? -
I can't see Mitt doing as much harm as Obama, sad that I look at it that way but sad is the state of politics in America.
-
The people who support him aren't represented on this board. Anyone who wants the status quo, namely Wall Street and the military-industrial complex, want Romney and since they have a lot of the money to spend on a candidate, they can influence the election quite a bit. Couple that with those who will vote for anyone other than Romney and you have an "electable" candidate.

Obama with a Republican controlled Congress would do less harm than Romney with a Republican controlled Congress. -
The media picked him earlier on, and no one really makes decisions for themselves anymore.
If the media picked a random guy out of a crowd that looked presidential, im sure they could propel him on a nice run if they did it earlier enough. -
No shit, some fucking actor looking dude with an actress wife or some shit like that... a big lug of a fool who you could run out there and he'd just charm the fucking pants off the room while looking all presidential, and his ex-actress wife just worked the room like fucking rocky on drago in the 10th round in the middle of ice cold russia.

yea, yea
I understand. -
Grandparents say Romney will beat Obama. That's the extent of it. The media crowns him so he must be the best. It's an identical election to 2008 where Obama won because he was the Democrat on the ballot.

I thought the same thing the other night. So I did some research on him as a person and what he has done as a CEO. He is know as a turn around specialist, he has brought a few companies from the brink, and also he was appointed to lead the Salt Lake Olympic committee after all the scandal and turned around the whole project to actually net Salt Lake millions from the Olympics, they were actually thinking about scaling a lot of it down and possible losing the Olympics before he came on.
Personally I am not fond of someone with his stature within the Mormon church leading the free world. I don't want another Bush forcing his moral choices on everyone, as if we were Mormons also. I don't care if he was loaded his entire life. He has worked closely with people of lessor income. It's his leadership and ability to pull the government back to a reasonable level that I want. He has the background that I think I want as the CEO of our country. -
Mitt understands business, is a stand up guy, and is looking out for America. Obama is trying to turn the US into a socialist country for his own benefit. Enough said.
-
CEO provides zero experience to be president. How can people be "conservative" but then say they want someone who knows how to run the economy? I thought conservatives wanted the government out of the economy?
-
Does it really matter who gets elected? This country is run by Big corporations and the Media. Until that is fixed this country is a pile of horse shit no matter who the POTUS is.
-
What? No, we want small government. We want the government to leave a lot of issues to the states. And much more. My question to you is, "what experience does make a good president?".
-
I'm not your personal Wikipedia, look the shit up. I could give a fuck less how much money the guy has, he has lead several companies from disaster. I'm not saying the guy is the messiah(FFS I hope he's not). But the repubs are not giving us much to vote for this year.

Lets all not jump down jhesser's throat right now like we're John Holmes and he's Oral Annie.
I asked for people to help me understand their support, or reasons that they might support Mitt. Jhesser is a class of 05er with few yearly posts. Lets not scare him back into lurking by attacking him too hard.
Ask for clarifications, but lets keep it discussion based, and not personal.
I'm really, actually, interested in pulling out those lurkers who DO SUPPORT Mitt's run for the presidency. I know they exist on here. Lets see how many will share. It should be an important part of the process. And when you ask for a clarification, lets aim to keep it all from degenerating into silliness.
Please. -
Understanding the Constitution is a good start. But you talked about his experience as "CEO" and being able to turn around companies. For a president to be able to do that or use that experience you have to believe that he should have a lot of power over the economy.
-
Has Mitt talked about auditing the FED?
I honestly don't know, and I'm feeling too lazy to look it up. -
Not that I know of.
-
I do not recall him speaking of it either.
