Don't see too many issues here, other than Paul Konerko not making it for Matt Thornton, Ian Kinsler making it only playing 56 games, and maybe a guy like Jaime Garcia or Mat Latos not getting on the team either.
  2. How about Jered Weaver being snubbed. He's been the best pitcher in the AL not named David Price.

  3. don't believe that heyward is going to play bc of issues with his hand

i can't really complain about the selections given that they haven't done away with the each team gets a player named rule
  4. the exclusions of weaver and the entire padres pitching staff are pretty disturbing. doubt Manuel even knows that the Padres exist...if the NL started Latos and then brought in Adams/Gregerson/Bell, with Kuo to pitch to any lefties= Easy NL Shippage!
  5. I refuse to complain about the starters for the All star game bc it just wouldnt be good business. The fans determined it and its fine with me.

Thank god Cholly is managing the NL again tho, guaranteed to see a few more phils on that roster.

As much as i love this post, i cant not agree with it. hahah

  7. uh how bout Joey Votto? 4th in league in batting avg, 2nd in HR, 4th in RBI, 2nd in OBP. Has reached base in 40 straight games and bats 3rd for Central Division Leaders. i could go on and on

Leaving Votto and Weaver off the rosters is ridiculous. How about the fact that the ASG is being played at Angel Stadium and Girardi leaves the second best pitcher in the AL off the roster when the game is being played at his home ballpark?

  9. I love the Yanks, but anyone thinking CC is having a better year than Jered Weaver isn't paying attention this year.
  10. Cannot believe Votto was left out.

WTF Weaver too, lol. Kiiiiiiiiind of a joke. Wow.

To add on to this, I am watching the Yankees telecast today and they're saying CC will be ineligible to pitch in the ASG after his start next Sunday and they will add Pettitte instead of Weaver.

  14. Omar Infante over Votto? WTF is that about? And where is Matt Latos? Latos is nasty... Charlie Manuel is a moron just like Jerry Manuel....
  15. Miguel Olivo needs to be on the roster, he's the best catcher in the NL right now

Mat Latos, Heath Bell, Luke Gregerson, and Mike Adams should have all been on the squad. A team that is tied for the best record in the NL has one selection?

I wanted to bitch about Jaime Garcia not being on the team, but when I saw Latos didn't make it, I had no argument.
  17. Olivo and Carlos Gonzalez >>>>>> Mccann and Holliday

Can't blame Charlie. 8 of the pitchers and a backup for each position are determined by the players, coaches and managers.
  19. andddd votto ejected in the 1st. endshis 41 game on base streak. obv enraged pregame from learning bout this travesty.
  20. Hughes and CC>Pettitte, lolwut?

FTR (and I know this doesn't come into all-star selections, but whatever...), Matt Holliday has a WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of 3.5. That is VERY good, even if a lot of it comes from his very good defense. Him and Ludwick are tied for 4th in terms of defensive rating according to Fangraphs. Gonzalez's defensive rating is -0.3 and his WAR is 1.5--both well below Holliday. Also, Holliday's OPS is .893; Gonzalez's is .823.

  26. noooooooooooo

I love what Konerko has done this year but I'd be retarded to take that bat. Hes an older guy and is sure to wear down. Where's the value in betting that anyways? He's had a tremendous first half (which is what the All-Star game is supposed to be about - in my mind at least) and he'd have to do just as well in the second half for me to win the bet.

Doubt I'd take the bet if you said 35
  27. dolphin--start voting and you can still get him in.

    nice try
  29. LOOOOOL.

I wouldn't take the bet at 35. I'd say that he'll probably finish the season with a .279 average, 32 home runs and 100 RBI. That's Paul Konerko. I covered the White Sox when he was going through a particularly bad streak. I watched him hit 10 balls in a row during BP that didn't make it out of the infield on a fly. He's verrrrry streaky.

Sorry kelly, just no bet to be had here that will work for both of us.

edit: Just an FYI, "doubt" does not equal "probably not"

    doubt=no chance

edit 2: Last year Pre All-Star he batted .302. Post he hit .243
