Hope not a repost but Free Agency officially opens today, not sure if some major moves will occur today or this weekend.
<STRIKE>Phils fans www.philliesnation.com having a live chat at 10am</STRIKE>
<STRIKE>Wish List: Chone Figgins 3b thinking it won't happen but if it did the infield would be flat out ridic</STRIKE>
<STRIKE>I wouldn't mind Adrian Beltre, if he can be the player he was in LA before his self-exile in Seattle or</STRIKE> former Phil Placido Polanco. Would be quite ironic to have him play 3b now since we traded him to Det in the first place to allow Utley to play everyday at 2b and keep Davd LOL Bell playing at 3b.
OBV need to address bullpen issues but currently we have a major hole at 3b to address.
edit: Phils sign Polanco I'm not thrilled, since I obv prefer Figgins, but I am more than content since we addressed an OBV need, next up bullpen. -
John Lackey and Matt Holiday to Boston please. Sox got money to $pend
-
I think Boston is going to end up with at least one of those players. I would love to see John Lackey in a Phils uniform but I know in advance it's just gonna happen and we need to address other needs.
-
I want Vazquez traded for a power hitting LF making similar $$$.
Gonzo and LaRoche resigned.
Heyward called up. -
The Yanks need to add a couple of players - hopefully Jason Bay and Lackey. Maybe try to swing a swing a deal with Detroit for Granderson, using Joba as bait.
-
Pretty sure the Yanks are just going to spend the 400 million necessary to just flat out buy the Marlins. That should work well
-
Jason Bay is going to end up in Anaheim.
-
I'm assuming that NYY will re-sign Damon and Pettitte, and let Matsui go; I can really see them going after only 1 big player (Bay), and working Hughes back into the rotation.
-
If they get Bay, are you DHing Damon?
-
Yeah pretty much DH'ing him. Probably rotate him into the OF to spell Cabrera and Bay on their off days. Damon's swing is just perfect for the 220 ft right field porch.
-
Isn't David Wright one of the best defensive 3b in the NL?

Kind of worried about this scenario in particular playing out, Mets move David Wright to 1b and sign Figgins to play 3b with Delgado being a FA.
I'd think the Mets would be more likely to put Figgins in left than the above scenario. -
I was thinking they might make a run at Vladimir Guerrero to DH and maybe re-sign Damon, I think Pettitte might still retire and I def think Matsui is gone.

I think Matsui wants to play with Ichiro in Seattle if he does not go back to the Yanks. -
The talk here has been that the Mets are very strongly considering bringing back Delgado on a heavily incentive laden contract (Minaya is completely in love with him). They would like to bring in Figgins and shift him over to 2B/OF - he is an absolutely perfect fit in a huge pitchers park, and they think he would have a positive effect on Reyes in the clubhouse.
EDIT: Bob, please tell me that Lucic can save my fantasy hockey team!! -
Very true about David Wright, kind of slipped my mind, fail :(
I just do not want any parts of Figgins on either of those 2 teams. -
I love Looch but I'm not sure if he is the type of guy to qualify to save your fantasy hockey team. Maybe try and pick up Marco Sturm on waivers? Savard should be back in a week and he'll be the guy I imagine benefits from that.
-
lol - I doubt it would happen, just trying to unload Joba. The Yanks never should have moved him out of the bullpen in the first place - they had a lock down setup guy and Rivera's heir apparent, and they royally fucked him up.
-
I dont think it makes sense to trade Joba, he isnt exactly coming off a brilliant season...
I personally think he belongs in the bullpen, but think it would be interesting to give him a full year in the rotation without all the tinkering and added pressures...
I think the Yanks will resign Damon, and hopefully Pettitte but Im not as sure with him...
You dont think Jorge is going to be doing a lot of Dh'in this year, and we pick up another catcher? -
FA catchers

Brian Schneider is best available (sure i might get flamed for that) and still has huge upside plus he is a Phillies killer so I would like him out of the NL east for first time in his career

I actually could see them signing Brian Schneider (2 years 13mill a year)
-
i dont think the yanks make any major moves this year and instead wait till next year where mauer, webb, halladay, beckett and dunn are free agents.
nady and wang (big ? but hopefully he regains his form from 3 years ago) are coming back. damon and matsui were key during the playoffs but i wouldnt be suprised if both of them were not resigned. if petite wants to play, im sure the yanks will resign him to an incentive deal -
Wang has to be getting non-tendered, no?
I think Minnesota will lock up Mauer this off-season. He's a loyal guy and with that new ballpark they can't afford to lose him after 1 year. -
lol
-
I think you'll see Jorge Posada Day at Fenway Park before you see Mauer leaving Minnesota.
-
Ben Sheets is an interesting name. If he can somehow stay healthy I think he could end being a steal for someone.
-
please god no polanco. might as well keep feliz.
