    So some girl i've hooked up with a few times told me she has mono (actually one of our mutual friends did, not even her. fuckin bitch). I don't feel sick or anything tho. Should i go to the doctor and get checked out or what? I know a couple friends who had it in high school and missed a couple weeks of school, which would absolutely fuck me now. So is their anyway i can just ride it out without going to the doctor's or what?

    i had mono AND strep when i was in hs. i never went back. gl with that.

    (obv i'm kidding, but i did end up missing like 3 weeks of school. it was the worst pain ever. go to the doctor asap IMO)

    When I got mono last year, went to the doctor and there wasnt anything he would give me. What worked for me was drinking as much water as i could and it seemed to work in less than a week. That time frame is quite amazing given the fact that it can ke ep people out for months.

    For the time being, I would just drink more water than you normally would.

    Yea i just read up on it and it said there was nothing for it, so im not even gonna bother goin to the university health place(big waste of time/pain in the ass) or a doctor's office (waste of money) just to get told to drink more water. This is bullshit. The girl wasn't better than a 6.

    FYI:

    I got mono in high school, was sick as shit, me and my girlfriend still exchanged bodily fluids (lol at how that sounds) and she didn't get mono...

    go figure

    but it's cos some people are carriers and never show symptoms

    I had mono three years ago my senior year in college. I thought it was just the flu at the time and I went out partying, drinking every night until I finally got so sick and was so sore that I went to the ER. None of the girls I hooked up w/ got sick, but my spleen was so enlarged I could have killed myself if I didn't go to the ER if it were to burst. It can be a dangerous thing if not taken care of properly. I got a ton of steroids, painkillers, and drugs to because it was such a serious issue with me.

    Having said that, if you start to feel real bad, I would go to the doctor immed. I couldn't have any physical contact sport for almost 6 months to protect my spleen.

    I've only had mono once. Slept for 17 straight hours without waking up once, ate some food, then went back to sleep. Pretty much only thing you can do since it hurts to even breathe. Mono sucks.
