Montego Bay vs Ocho Rios

    Planning a vacation, and most likely going to Jamaica. Anyone have good/bad experiences in these areas?

    I have stayed at both places, and I enjoyed both. Ocho Rios may have a little more going on if you want to wander outside the resort. I don't think you can go wrong with either place.

    You should definitely go up in the mountains and get a tour of Bob Marley's estate though, that alone makes the trip worth it imo.

    A cruise I went on ported in Ocho Rios. I loved the time I spent there. We went tubing down a river, which ended on the beach. The beach was amazing, with the water feeling like lukewarm bathwater. Also, it was really easy to score herb.

    Never been to Montego Bay, so I can't help you there. But my experience in Ocho Rios was indeed quite pleasant.

    I have heard mixed reviews all over the web. A lot of people say Ochos Rios is the way to go for a relaxing vacation, but it sounds like Montego Bay is where a lot of the action is?

    Does this sound like an accurate assessment?

    i came back from Jamaica on tuesday after 2 weeks i stopped in Ocho Rios the RIU 5* Allincusive.
    lots and lots of americans and canadians there
    can safely say its the best holiday i've been on.
    it's safe to go outside the resort. everyone wants a tip tho. they will actually bug you until you tip them.
    and make sure you go to dunz river falls. you actually get to walk up an active waterfall its a experience and seriously don't miss that.
    the hotel i stopped in had a bus to and from the main nightclub in ocho rios ( margaretaville) which is pretty decent.

    as for montego bay, no idea. just got off the plane there.

    Montego Bay is a fkn shithole with shitty beaches and random cows walking everywhere off the resorts (not sure if this is everywhere in Jaimaica or not) ... oh, and good luck ANYWHERE off the resort. Did I mention most of the beaches on the resort of shitty? Honestly couldn't pay me to go back to Montego Bay.

    shit dude thats one bad experience because the beaches in ocho rios are fuckin amazing.

    the one thing i will say is tho.
    tips tips tips is what they expect.
    i got stuck on some rocks in shallow water in the ocean on a pedlow thing. dude wanted $5 to get me off.

    i was shocked that weed was illegal over there .
    everywhere you go they try sell it you tho. however best bud i've ever had.

    Ocho Rios for sure. Was there twice last year. Sandals Manner side (villa side), totally chill. Cabana by the pool, mamosa's and fatties all day.

    did this when i was 20. Shit was tight! couldnt even finish all the weed in a week. Had to throw some out before we went back to the Aiport.

    You cant go worng cause Jamaica is the greatest place in the world, but defintiely go to Ocho Rios or Negril over Montego Bay.

    FYI, my FT sn is MoBayBum cause I enjoyed Montego Bay so much, but I would still hit up the other two places.

    so are you guys saying I should go out of my way to go to Negril? Or basically just stay away from MB?

    And for those of you who went to Ocho Rios, how much was the shuttle from the MB airport (I hear cabs run around $120)
