  1. If random people were shown a picture of sports stars of all time who would be the most famous in all sports. Meaning who is recognizable...like Babe Ruth would not be recognizable to random 30 yr old women.

obv Basketball would be MJ and hockey would be Gretzky, Golf is probably Tiger

    Baseball?
    Football?
    Tennis?
    Boxing?
    Soccer?
    Track&Field?
    NASCAR?

    [ ]NASCAR is a sport
[x] NASCAR is not a sport

    Football - OJ Simpson
    Tennis - Anna Kournikova
    Boxing - Ali
    Soccer - Beckham
Track & Field - Bruce Jenner

meh these days he is so much more famous for the murder, I don't even think a lot of younger people know that he played football.

  6. Here's the thing, with the amount of exposure that athletes get these days you have to be biased towards modern athletes.

It also depends what age group you're talking here...I'm going to do for my generation (im 26 btw)

Baseball - Griffey (think about it, does baseball truly have ANY super-ultra megastars right now?)
    Basketball - MJ
    Football - Peyton Manning
    Hockey - Gretzky
    Tennis - Federer
    Boxing - Mike Tyson
    Soccer - Beckham
Track and Field - Marion Jones

Pretty much young people don't know much about the old people. People who crossed over in other areas like Bonds or OJ going on trial are the ones people remember. And I would agree that Shaq>MJ in this area.
  8. you probably could write a thesis on this subject honestly. I'm not answering because the question is way more in depth than you would think and I'm over not being one of these peeps!
  9. Baseball- Babe Ruth
    Football- Brett Favre
    Tennis- Andre Agassi
    Boxing- Ali
    Soccer- Beckam
    Track&Field- Carl Lewis
    NASCAR- Who fucking cares
  10. where the fuck is the mma category?
  11. I don't think Shaq is close to Jordan. Jordan is the best marketed person in the history of sports.

I think Tom Brady is more mainstream than Peyton. Google image him and 90% are not even football related

    lol @ "probably tiger"
  12. Is favre not in the running?

  13. Gretzky
    Jack Nicklaus
    MJ

    Joe Namath
    John Mac

  20. wheres the WWE??
  21. about Gretzky

My friend's little brother (6'7" when he was in 10th grade little) is on the football team with Gretzky, Montana and Will Smith's kids. I read an article quoting Gretzky where he says he enjoys going to the games, nobody bothers him because they don't recognize him. Will Smith gets all the attention

He is probably part kidding but...

edit: may not have been an article but a piece ESPN did calling it "celebrity high". Also not sure the ages and if they are all still there but my friend's little brother is a senior now.

Oaks Christian. Nobody bothers him because every kid there has a father or mother in sports, movies, TV or is the CEO of some billion dollar company. Wayne owned a restaurant/bar close to this school and I would see him there all the time. My friend and I would always discuss how easy it would be to get laid if your nickname was "The Great One."

Edit: Jimmy Clausen went to highschool there, too, and I believe Clay Matheews, as well.

Yeah, I assume it is a ridiculously wealthy school. My friend's brother got a sports scholarship there. Jimmy's brother Rick went to my HS (taft) for his senior year because we had Steve Smith (Giants) to throw to who was only in 10th or 11th grade at the time. Their dad was a total asshole but i remember watching Jimmy throw the ball around with his friends during halftime or after the games, he was still in jr high. All 3 of the brothers were raised to be quarterbacks

  28. My point being that in this country if you know who one is then you know the other. If they were to both walk in a mall perhaps, Shaq would instantly get more recognition because of his size.
