    Sorry about opening another thread even closely related to that other thread but I have to ask - you call yourself an independent who leans towards the democrats. The question would be what do you agree with the republicans/conservatives on. I'm not calling you anything I'm just asking. Independents normally are independent due to the fact that they agree with stances both parties take from time to time.

    And for the record I hate both parties equally. In my minority opinion the two party system has run it's course. It worked well for our country but it obviously isn't currently nor in the future benefiting our country.

    To be honest, i don't agree with either party these days. In the last, oh lets say 10-15 years, both parties have shifted towards the extreme wing of their ideological base. This is due in large part to the polarization of most voters, i.e., you see a reduction in split-ticket voting. Thus the parties appeal more towards their base, due in large part to fundraising needs. I consider myself a proponet of free trade and a reductionist regarding government regulation in capitalist ventures. I am definately socially liberal, but not to extent that i would consider myself a civil libertarian. The reductionist statement must be qualified. I think that business, left totally unregulated is dangerous. I am not an Adam Smith type, who feels that markets are completely self-correcting and will never fail (i.e., the Chicago school). I would like to consider myself a candidate centered voter, meaning that i evaluate each candidate based on merit and a prospective view of their electability. But with the huge number of candidates that each voter has to choose from in any given election and the impossibility of judging and evaluating each candidate, i will many times take a partisan cue and vote accordingly, which would be Democrat in many instances. Now let's see the conservatives run with that statement!!!

    Well, here's my question for you Mr. Smith. I have no idea if you are what you claim you are, but I see no real reason to doubt your integrity based on any of the ideas you've presented.

    However, I have to wonder what kind of college professor doesn't understand the very basic concept of paragraphs? It's called an "Enter" key, sir. Please sprinkle it in your posts occasionally.

    Standard time zones can be defined by geometrically subdividing the Earth's spheroid into 24 lunes (wedge-shaped sections), bordered by meridians each 15 of longitude apart. The local time in neighbouring zones is then exactly one hour different.     ^That's part of it. But I think any body can just declare their own timezone. It's just a question of whether the rest of the world recognizes it or not (which they will have to if they want to deal with you while you're awake.)
