On Dec. 8 Paula and I went to the Metallica Concert in Sacramento for my xmas gift (Thank you Paula! <3).
Opening for them first was a band called Volbeat from Copenhagen, didnt get to hear much of these guys cuz we were a little late due to traffic, and then we met up with my boss (who was trashed already) for a few minutes before heading to our seats. We had lower level seats, about a dozen rows back from the floor, not bad at all, good view of everything. So we finally get to our seats and Volbeat was beginning their last song, which was a cover mix of Slayers South of Heaven and Raining Blood, it was sweet (obv cuz Im a huge Slayer fan).
Next up was Machine Head, now I havent listened to these guys in years but I know they are pretty good and really heavy. They rocked out for about 45 minutes then did a tribute to Dimebag and played Fucking Hostile which I thought was really cool. (For those who dont remember Dimebag was killed exactly 5 years ago on Dec. 8).
Now for the moment Ive been waiting for, for a long time (No good/big bands play in Newfoundland, ESPECIALLY Metallica). The lights went out, the song from the beginning of Guitar Hero Metallica came on (I guess they play that when they enter a concert, obv why its in the game lol), the laser light show started and the crowd went nuts. It was awesome. Here is the set list from the concert:
1) That Was Just Your Life
2) The End of the Line
3) Creeping Death
4) Fuel
5) Fade to Black
6) Broken, Beat and Scarred
7) Cyanide
8) Sad But True
9) One
10) All Nightmare Long
11) The Day That Never Comes
12) Master of Puppets
13) Fight Fire with Fire
14) Nothing Else Matters
15) Enter Sandman (MrBlondes fav obv)
Then for the encore the came out and did a cover of Budgies Breadfan, then played Motorbreath. After that everyone was still going nuts, so they stayed on to play another song but they turned on the house lights so they could see the whole crowd. They played Seek & Destroy and dropped like 80 big ass black Metallica beach balls into the crowd. People were trying to catch them to keep them and shit, one person would grab the ball over his head trying to get it down from the crowds hands and someone else would punch it into the air from behind, this happened about 20 times, lol. People were popping the balls and deflating them so they could keep them. Then they started throwing out guitar picks and drum sticks and shit, they stayed behind after the last song for about 20 minutes going around waving and saying hello to everyone still left in the arena.
The lights and pyro effects were pretty sweet too, when the big fireballs would go off on stage, we could immediately feel the heat on our faces from about 150 feet away!
The only song I told Paula I would be disappointed if I didnt hear was Master of Puppets, and they didnt disappoint. The crowd was totally into it too. MASTER!!! MASTER!!!
My ears were ringing and my throat was sore for almost 24 hours after the concert, but I had a great time. Would definitely like to see them again if they came back I think. -
Not big on Metallica, but I saw you said "boss" so I imagine you finally got a job. I'm sure I'm like 8 months late on this, but WOOOOOO!
-
fmxer isn't real
-
I am a figment of everyone's imagination...
but yes thank you, I'm actually on my 2nd job right now, still looking to improve of course lol -
go back to your dungeon bitch
-
sigh, first thread in about a year and hijacked immed obv, FML
-

-
yeah i guess i wouldn't shake his hand though (there was obv some history, just due to the first OT league shit) but i kinda feel bad. he wasn't an asshole or anything, i was drinking and obv hold grudges, but i don't think he cares, and he is ok in my book. (i also met one of gidder's friends that night, which is way more drama lololol)
-
filthy brag re having sideburns immfo. (if u read between the lines I mean)
-
I actually grabbed one of those beachballs at the show I went to in Boston.. Was going to keep it. But when I saw that someone paid 70 bucks for it on EBAY I sold it ..
Glad you had fun -
I love Metallica but I think it's lamesauce that they play the same setlist basically every night. Mix in a breath Larsy...
-
People still fucking like Metallica?

they don't. check out the old reviews from me and Afink back in January. New stuff is the same, but they mix up some of the classics....whatever they feel like playing that night. They obviously arent going to do a show and not include Seek and Destroy or Master of Puppets -
They always put on a great show. seen them a few times.

dallas, I would usually reply here and say something like "to each his own" but since you are such an ignorant prick rap star wannabe (btw your hat is on crooked there buddy) who is calling me a douche because I happen to enjoy heavy metal, I have 1 thing to say to you.... in the very famous words of my wife "GET AIDS"
-
There's a big difference between making fun of people/giving them a hard time for the stupid shit they like and wishing harm upon someone. I've never wished harm or an awful, incurable disease befall anyone on this website.

"Rap Star Wannabe"? Is that what they call people with multiple degrees these days? Hmmm....I wonder if my wannabe rap career will coincide with my day job as a portfolio manager. Hope not.
But I'll make a one time exception here: I hope your wife is hit by a car and killed on her way home from work today, and if I were irrational enough to believe in god, I'd pray for it to happen. -
well this thread turned ugly...dallas gfy clownshoe
Saw Metallica in Nola nov '08; great show! -
well that would assume that i do work, but i will try my hardest to get hit, though i don't do any high speed driving on city streets, so this will be a tough one.

you are a fucking retard. who gives a shit what kind of music people like? if you don't like metallica, then don't fucking open a thread that has a review for it. i asked him to post it because blonde and afink asked me for a review, and i figured since fmxer knows all this shit, he better write it. i guess you feel better about yourself because you made fun of people who listen to metallica. and i will continue the love and hope you catch bird flu ass well. -
STFU, I don't go into rap threads and tell the OP that rap is horrible, which it clearly is. For the record, you may not like the music they play but it is ignorant to not understand the talent and endurance this band has. On top of this they give 110% EVERY CONCERT THEY PERFORM AT! They never halfass anything and they bust their ass to stay in shape and tour constantly still, you don't know shit about this band so shut up.

- Master Of Puppets
- Harvester Of Sorrow
- Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
- For Whom The Bell Tolls
- Frantic
- Sad But True
- St. Anger
- No Remorse
- Seek & Destroy
- Blackened
- Fuel
- Nothing Else Matters
- Creeping Death
- One
- Enter Sandman

Damn, I'm jealous. One of my favorite all-time bands and I've yet to see them live. Glad you had fun man!

I've never really been the biggest Metallica fan, but I did get a chance to see them at Summer Sanitarium Tour in 2000 in St. Louis.
I was pleasantly suprised by how good they were in concert. I would even go see them again. -
Sounds like a sick concert... I cant get enough of their live CD where they played with the SFSO.
