  1. Do we have any musicians in the house??

Have you ever played in a band? What kind of music? What instrument(s) did you play?

I have been looking to get back into the live music scene (i.e. not just sitting behind a piano and writing music) and have been found left wanting :( I really miss being on stage performing...and obv the sex/drugs that come along with it...

maybe start an ot band...lol - i can see the CD cover now as that pic with WAR and Maridu as the llamas...we can name it "PM murderer"
  2. i play bass
  3. I play mandolin in a jamgrass (jamband/bluegrass) band
  4. I have had a pro cover band in the Boston area for 14 years...still going strong. I sing, play a little guitar.
  5. I'm in a punk band. We put one of our songs up here. Here's the link.

World Internet Premier of F.L.B.! (sicktight's punk band)

Also you can find us on MySpace where we have 4 songs up. Search F.L.B. We are from Long Beach, CA. If somebody could throw up the link to our MySpace page, that would be cool. I'm at work and can't get on MySpace at work.
  6. right on, Sicktight...I used to play in a ska/punk band back in high school and i fucking loved it! that was the band i really missed playing in (all the other groups I was in was either jazz or classical music, and while i still enjoyed those very much, it def didn't compare to playing a ska show with hundreds of screaming fans!) i played the mellophone (marching french horn) and the flugal horn in the group...in the jazz bands i mainly played either trumpet/cornet or bass trombone...in the classical groups i was in (quartets/quintets, orchestras, wind ensembles, etc.) i played french horn, which is my principle instrument.

I have always been very envious of people who play string instruments as i have never been able to play them...my father, which is how i initially got into music, is an awesome guitarist/pianist (rock pianist) and he has attempted to learn me many a time but i just do not have what it takes...he started me out on drums, which was his first instrument also, moved me over to piano, which i fell in love with, and i eventually moved on to brass/woodwinds when i got more into the classical scene and realized that i was pretty good at composing...but he pushed guitar/bass on me real hard and i just couldn't hang :(

  7. Very cool. Yes, it is rad to be on stage rockin' out and there is a big ass mosh pit goin' on. It gets me more pumped up to see people obviously enjoying the music.
  8. SHOUT OUT TO THE LBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

I also dabble into producing a little bit...i'm currently working with a group called The LBC, but it stands for The Legendary Buddah Crew...some pretty talented rappers...

about six-seven years ago i had the idea to put rap lyrics and a beat over classical music (obv this is what all rappers are doing these days and i've always been pissed i didn't jump on my idea way back when...damn rappers and their samples) and this is what i've been doing w/ The LBC, but we use all original music composed by myself and another writer...some tight shit...

  9. Sounds pretty interesting actually. You have any links or samples?
  10. i'm technically challenged, lol...right now we're in the early stages of getting ready to go into the studio to lay the vocals - we all have other jobs/other life shit and this is a side gig for most of us, but we should have something concrete by the end of the year...i dunno if i'm gonna be on the project for that much longer though, as i am moving to the west coast in a few months...

i do have a CD of my high school band, though...unfortunately, the only copy i still have is the raw version right out of the studio and is not mixed/edited, so it sounds pretty crappy, but still pretty good for a high school ska/punk band comprised of a bunch of stoners/alcoholics...i could mail you one, lol...

  12. now i don't really enjoy any other kind of music other than classical and jazz, but i can definitely appreciate other genres of music, and i def dig that, Binksy...wack ass synth horns, though...get yourself some really players!

man, i wish i had video of some of the ska/punk shows i've played in...fucking awesome times!! i gotta get back into it...

i just put in my resignation at my job - am prob going to be moving to portland for a few months to take some time off from things before i move to vegas to get back to poker as a career...so hopefully with that free time, and a cooler town/environment, i will be able to get back into the scene. BUGS (Baltimore Underground Scene) ain't really what it used to be...
