I'm sure people that rob stores are concerned about the potential trespassing charge. WTF?

LOS ANGELES (CBS) The next time you visit a store in the San Fernando Valley, you may have to check your hat at the door or take your business elsewhere.
KNX 1070′s Vytas Safronikas reports its part of a new anti-crime effort announced by the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday to deter criminals from targeting businesses in Studio City and North Hollywood. -
why lol at lapd?
they didn't pass the law -
Its not a law, its an LAPD initiative to creatively use the anti-trespassing laws to ban head gear.

They go around to these stores and convince the owners to post these signs requiring head gear removal. Failure to comply would be considered trespassing. If I'm going to rob a store, am I concerned with the potential trespassing charge?
It does zero to deter crime. -
Read it to be part of the penal code. That would make it passed by some legislative body or city council. fwiw imo
-
It is up to the business so don't see why it matters. My friends own a business in Studio City, no way they are making a no hat policy. Maybe it makes more sense for a jewelry store. I do see that it doesn't matter, a robber will still wear his hat

More so hat but ya when its bright as fuck and the security guard stops u at curb and makes u take ur glasses and hat off it is annoying but not a huge deal. Hard to grasp tone on here and Im not saying its a huge deal, just a lil annoying
-
Sick brag about having money.
-
We have to take off our underwear at my credit union, in case there's any bombs in them. Kinbda embarrassing since I'm so limp.

I find it sad so many younger people feel offended they have to remove a hat to enter anywhere. This use to be common curtesy and a sign of respect. Along with taking a hat off for anthems and the like. Same as holding doors and saying please and thank you . along with all men being sirs and all ladys ma'am.
Alot of crap has gone out the window over the last cpl of decades. -
It's over, I agree, we will only see more incidents as society continues to decline.
-
just do what they say, dont question please
-
Removing your hat as a "sign of respect" is dumb imo. Having a hat on or not doesn't affect anyone else unless you are Abe Lincoln at a theatre. I find it sad that old people choose to be offended when other people don't remove a hat.

How old do you think the average age was back when the whole hat thing began? The people that started it were likely in their early 20s, or younger.

I guess you old guys just don't understand young people. -
Since it was started in the times of the Romans, probably pretty young. It had a purpose then though. It was so when soldiers from each side went to meet to parlay they removed their helmuts so they could see each other's faces. Its dumb. Like why is it supposed to be respectful to remove your hat in an elevator when a woman enters? She would really feel more respected by seeing my baldness and "hat hair"? It should go the way of men wearing white powdered wigs as a sign of respectability.

Maybe so, but I'm sure we could take a hard look at a lot of customs, and conclude the same thing. When somebody has been taught a societal custom, and lives their life abiding by it (ie, a 75 year old man who has removed his hat in restaurants his whole life, stood when a woman prepares to take a seat at the table, etc), then it is not surprising that they might take some measure of offense when it is not followed.
You can choose to shine light on the custom as being 'dumb', and you might be right, but I certainly don't find it 'sad' as you put it that somebody who lived a long life following it would take offense.
And for the record, when I see some dude wearing a baseball cap in a nice restaurant, I usually assume he is a bit of a douchebag. -
Dyzalot just doesnt want to take his hat off because he's balding
-
Yes. I think my balding head is more disrespectful than a hat covering up that hideousness.
I like it when people assume I'm an ignorant douchebag. Makes it more fun when they talk to me about something intelligent. -
It's not gay if your balls don't touch, right guys?
-
This is the same thing as the yearly "OT SUCKS THIS YEAR" post.

It's always going to be "well back in my day, things were soooo much better because of xx and xx and xx."
I rarely see anybody keep their hat on for the national anthem...I hold the door for any and everybody...I say please and thank you (probably too much)...I call all of my friends' parents Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith until I'm told to call them by their first name because "Mr. Smith is my dad...you're making me feel old." I call all random people sir and ma'am, even when they may be 10 years younger than me.
And probably 90% of the people I know also act the same way I do.
Posts like yours tilt me to no end...OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING BECAUSE CHIVALRY IS DEAD. -
I never said that I assumed that they lacked intelligence. I just assume that they are douchebags. I know a lot of intelligent people that are douchebags.
-
It matters because the LAPD is wasting time and money (going around and soliciting store owners to put up signs.) on an initiative that is ineffective and retarded. They have better things to do like plant evidence.
-
Meh, I go to high school sporting events and you'd be surprise how many kids don't even stand for the national anthem. And then there's those who do stand but talk during the national anthem. Sure wasn't like that before

Nah
I think he likes to conduct little social experiments when he knows that he can rationally argue his side if somebody calls him out on it. I don't think he is one of those people that just does annoying shit because he is oblivious to the world beyond the tip of his nose.
