  1. Inspired by FIFA 10 coming out soon where you can make your own squads, and compete in a virtual league with everyone across the globe. Smoked a bowl, waiting around for the start of Man City - West Ham on ESPN 2 at 2:00 CST and figure I'll make another soccer post that not too many people are interested in. However, there are some soccer minds here, so feel free to add and discuss any of the below.

So here is my top 11 soccer players that would make the best TEAM in the world. I am sure I left some players that could easily be in this line-up, but I just picked what I would think would be the best team.

    GK: Buffon (Juventus, Italy)

CB: Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd, Serbia)

    CB: John Terry (Chelsea, England)

    LB: Dani Alves (Barcelona, Brazil)

    RB: Maicon (Inter, Brazil)

    CM: Xavi (Barcelona, Spain)

    CM: Gerrard (Liverpool, England)

    LW: Messi (Barcelona, Argentina)

    RW: Ronaldo (Real Madrid, Portugal)

    F: David Villa (Valencia, Spain)

    F: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona, Sweden)

I hate myself for it, but I somehow left Kaka and Fernando Torres off the list.

If I was building a complete squad, I would top it out with...

Edwin Van De Sar (Manchester Utd, Netherlands)

    Rio Ferdinand (Manchester Utd, England)

    Frank Lampard (Chelsea, England)

    Kaka (Real Madrid, Brazil)

    Fernando Torres (Liverpool, Spain)

    Luis Fabiano (Sevilla, Brazil)

    Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal, Spain)
  2. Zeeee Germans don't approve.

  4. WR: Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals)

    FL: Percy Harvin (Minnesota Vikings)

QB: Tom Brady (New England Patriots)

    RB: Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings)

    FB: LeRon McClain (Baltimore Ravens)

    TE: Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta Falcons)

    LT: Jonathan Ogden (Baltimore Ravens)

    RT: Jeff Otah (Carolina Panthers)

    LG: Steve Hutchinson (Minnesota Vikings)

    RG: Shawn Andrews (Philadelphia Eagles)

    C: Jeff Saturday (Indianapolis Colts)

I really wanted to, but his behavior with the media and his constant attention-whoring to get out of Bayern Munich makes him a bad pick in my eyes. It seems like every week there is a new story about him being happy, not happy, wanting to go, wanting to stay, going to Real, staying put, etc etc etc and the media still gives him the benefit of the doubt. He is a sick sick player, but a huge pussy and I literally hate him only for this reason and don't think he would be good on a world class team. Also, what has he really won, he's kinda weak sauce IMO.

  6. LOL @ that being the best 11 in the NFL. Please proceed to GTFO as you clearly have no clue regarding both sports.

  7. lmfao @ that west ham dude who's writhing on the ground, someone yells at him and he instantly gets up, no worse for the wear. if I was a ref, I'd have carded him right there.

like your squad btw, but I'm a Liverpool fan so i probably have torres in my starting 11

    sick level
  9. Andrei Arshavin isn't your stereotypical all-star, but I think he makes every team he plays for that much better. I'm trying to figure out who I would take out to put him in, but he is truly an exceptional talent, and there are few, if any players I would rather have on my team.

He can finish, and he can create chances for others like few can. Although, I dont think you can put him ahead of any of the attack players on your squad based on numbers, I think on a real life team he would help produce better results because he is so unselfish, yet can finish with the best of them.

You could hate Ronaldo for the same reasons. I hate him so much for his fake flap-diving, his attention whoring and his selfishness on the field.

Ribery's actions on the field are unselfish, he always gives 100% and never fake any injury.
  11. Agree with Arshavin, very classy playmaker. I guess straight swap for Fabregas would be pretty even.

  12. Yeah but no matter what, Ronaldo is on the field every week scoring goals. Ribery is constantly injured and in and out of favor with his coaches and teammates. He is an amazing player, but his antics this past year have slid him wayyyy down my list. Although I hate Domenech with a passion, I think there is actually a valid reason why Ribery isn't liked by his coaches.

At least we agree on that lol
  14. I really couldnt believe he kept his job after the Euro last summer. I know the FFF is a little different, but there is no reason for him to be the coach anymore. The players have tuned him out, France has been getting lucky in WC qualifying without solid results, and team and especially starting 11 selection is laughable at best.

Also, this is completely spotty in my mind, but 2-3 years ago...didn't he refuse to pick up Ludovic Guily bc the guy was a wrong zodiac sign or was born on friday the 13th or some ridic shit like that?

  15. I took a glance just to see how many I would know. I knew 2, which is about what I expected. But I'm a hockey fan, so I'm not going to hate on the marginalized sports fan. Rock on, dude.
  16. yes he believes in astrology. He is a complete moron who always have a sarcastic arrogant remark to throw out there after a poor showing. Also, after the world cup, after France lost to Italy all he said was "life is good, i'm going to marry Estelle" (the french sports journalist who finished top 100 in the WSOP ME this year).

We have some of the best players of the world and he can't do shit with them. Everybody in France wants him out. He is a joke with a complete lack of style.
  17. ashley cole needs to be in there somewhere. and id put pepe reina on the bench instead of van der sar
  18. Agreed, but once again, his team selection is laughable at best. IMO France's best squad...

    Benzema

    Henry Ribery

    Malouda Toulalan/Gorcouff

    Diaby

    Evra

    Gallas Sagna Abidal

  19. While I agree that VDS might not be the 2nd best keeper in the world anymore and I might have given him his spot purely based on his name, but there are at least 5 keepers that are better than Reina.
