  1. When to Flyers vs. NYR at whatever it is they call the new building now. Had 10th row seats section 103, seats 5 and 6. This means that our seats were at the face off circle on the same side as the team benches. We had the flyers on offense in periods 1 and 3 and we had the Rangers in the second period. Section 103 is also close enough to the NYR bench to talk smack if you really feel like it.

First period, Mike Richards picks off the puck at the Flyers blue line and carries it on a breakaway and upper 90's the shot for a 1-0 lead.

Second period is like watching playoff hockey. Few chances and very little to get excited about.

Third period Danny puts the biscut in the basket on a bang, bang play where he has the puck chipped to him from the blue line on a broken play. He had been late getting out of the zone on a clear and when NYR gave the puck over he was all alone after he received the puck. Sweeping around the net quickly he banked the puck off of the NY defender and they Flyers were up 2-0.

What seemed like less than a minute later #8 on NY, Malkin (I think, don't feel like looking it up), beats Biron with a 35ft shot that Malkin had a clear view of the lower part of the net. I know this because I saw the puck the whole way after it left his stick until it hit the net.

Then, next thing you know another defenseman, Dawes, rips a shot past Biron and whola its 2-2. I am not feeling so hot about the chances of the home team at this point. Quickly though the flyers come back on a bang, bang play that sees Danny with the puck again to the right of the net and right in front of our seats as well. He deposits the puck into the net and shortly there after he gets cross checked into the net, right on top of the puck. Bam, 3-2 Flyers.

A few minutes later, inexplicably, Biron comes too far out of his net and Jagr ends up with the puck to the right of the net with Biron out far enough that he needs a dingy to get back in... a quick backhander and we're knotted at 3-3.

End regulation and OT still tied at 3-3.

My first ever pentaly shoot out live now happens.

Flyers go first with Mike Richards who promptly puts the puck in the net. Here is a picture from my phone of him just before shooting the shot.

Then the Rangers send out Shanny. He misses a terrible backhand move to the left.

Next up for the Flyers is Jeff Carter, possibly my favorite Flyer right now. He drains it for a 2-0 lead in the shootout. Here is a picture of him just before he shoots.

Shortly after the next Ranger, I actually forget who shot, I was so enthused after the Carter goal I just saw the next shot miss sealing the Flyers win 4-3 (2-0).

Honestly, I do not think that anything can match live pro hockey when you have 10th row seats. It is so fast, brutal, and they are doing it on freaking ice with skates!

Anyway it was a great night. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
  2. i felt bad cuz nobody has responded. looks like a fun night though :)
  3. message in parantheses was correct
  4. Second period is like watching playoff hockey. Few chances and very little to get excited about.

Pleas explain how this makes sense. oh ya, we got froppaaaaaaaaa

  5. I like second row better, this was against atlanta which was also a sick ending. tonights game got intense in the 3rd though :D 6th row seats sunday. go flyers !
  6. As a ranger fan, I wish we had Malkin. The defenseman's name is Marek Malik.

And Nigel Dawes isnt a defenseman but a forward.

And agree that live hockey is the best sporting event to go to. I was the the Penguins/Rangers game past Tuesday and I loved it.

  7. best part, at least at a bruins games, is the drunk ass college girls on the jumbrotron
  8. LOL, I guess I was referring to how for most people, watching close checking hockey with few chances is boring. Really, the flyers had 4 PP opportunities in the 2nd period and actually had maybe 5 chances total during the whole PP time. NY played well defensively and the Flyers did little to break down NY.

During even strength it was mostly positional play and very tight checking. Although I could be wrong, sitting there it really didn't seem like there were ANY quality chances the whole period. That can be boring, lets be honest. If there were a few top notch chances it wouldn't be so boring, but with 20 minutes and zero, that is lame.

  11. You can tell jester is not that big of a hockey fan.
  12. Yea i went to a flyers at islanders game. Of course we got pwned at home. up 3-1 the u guys drop 4 on us. god carter is a beast tho. him and richards are just sikkkk. o yea and HENDRIK SUCKS!!!!! go islanders
  13. the only reason I asked is because you said it reminded you of playoff hockey and then said it was boring. besides march madness I think NHL playoffs are the most opposite of boring there is.

Eitherway I <3 jester, and <3 him even more bc hes a fan of the greatest game in the world!
  14. LOOOL, ok. I don't have time to memorize all the players on all the rosters of all the teams anymore. I'm lucky to watch just the Flyers games. At 35 with 3 kids, I will concede that I don't see as much hockey as I used to watch. I will disagree with your claim.

  15. wish i coulda been there. crazy third period

  16. I understand.. But still you should never confuse Malik with Malkin ever.. (Except in rare shootouts that Malik gets in.. You have a live I know.. I went to a Flyers game last month versus the Sharks.. 4th row.. Frickin sweeet. They were booing Briere last month.. How quickly it changes
  17. thats philly sports, boo your own team and their team. win win
  18. Nigel Dawes is a forward. Sounds like a good game though. Richards and Carter are just beasts.
  19. Was at the Leafs-Flyers game in Toronto last week. Philadelphia totally outplayed them and the Leafs pulled out the win in OT.
  20. yea, he was playing the point on the play though... I shoulda just said point, but w/e

  21. I acutally have alot of respect for Flyers fans. I went on a 2 day trip last month to AC and hit a Devils game and a Flyers game.. Checked out the new Devil arena which is very very nice and they always have a good team and all.. And as expected the few fans who actually showed up were fucking morons. I was wearing a Kings jersey or whatever and got a few hisses and boos. I replied to the idiots "listen if other teams hockey fans dont come to your games fricking Marty Brodeur would be playing to an empty arena every night"

So the next night was the Flyers game and Im wearing a Joe Sakic Nordiques jersey. And at least 30 different Flyers fans all said nice Jersey to me.
  22. saw the last period and ot great gm

cough, devs own your soul, cough
  23. Marek Malik or Malkin, you be the judge<object height="355" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x81F_XnuQpU&hl=en"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x81F_XnuQpU&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" height="355" width="425"></object>

  24. I stated the guy's number... I had just read the other thread so Malkin was in my head not Malik... that is why I specifically said (I think, but I'm too lazy to look it up).

If you want to harp on a semi drunk write up of a game, fine feel free, w/e.

  25. haha im not criticizing. what i wrote above the video was a joke because malik did a sick move that you would expect from malkin and not a defenseman

  26. i love how you wrote he put the biscuit in the basket. i lol'd
  27. Are you standing in those pictures?

I ask because I can't tell if people are sitting or standing.

I would guess standing because It's gotta be way intense during a shootout. I've never seen one live. :( im jealous
