title says it all... I've got the yellow light of death according to my search. Sucks but I've had it since they came out. Guess I buy a new one next week... sucks that I will lose all of my data, plus I need to figure out how to get the my GT5 disc out of the system.
-
some people fix that for as little as $60. search craigslist
-
YouTube has vids on how to fix. Gotta take apart the ps3 and then apply thermal glue. It's not a permanent fix but it should work for a while and at least enough to get out the disc. It's super easy to do but as I said it won't last. I did it once and it worked for a day and another time and it was fine for > 1mo. I'd at least try it so you can save money or worst case backup your data before buying new. Good luck.

RIP ps3
-
Good to know, just found a video on how to do this... will try and hopefully get the disc at least. Thanks guys
-
mine is freezing up when loading the game(s)...any help besides resetting it and having the fan run for 30secs????
-
my buddies stopped wokring on Friday. He had to come over and try my power cord, as Sony siad it was a power cord issues. It wasnt a cord issue at all. The PS3 would turn out but as soon as you tired to start a game or bluray it would hard restart. His was only 1 month old
-
The PS2 that I bought in 2001 still works as well as the first day I got it. LOL @ gottahavetehnextgen schmucks.
-
Had this happen to me about 2 weeks ago. Youtube how to get the disc out and then go get yourself a slim. Ez game
-
Happened to me and I sold my broken one for like $150, so its still worth something.
-
You can send it in to Sony for $150 and they will send a refurbished PS3 back...
-
The PS3 has a light of death? Fuck
-
dont know where your from but call your local game selling shop and ask them theyl;l know someone who can perma-fix this for prob around 75 or less....just had to do it over break but ive had mine 3 years almost
-
I actually had to replace my ps2 after two years. I know others that had to as well. So aside from the schmuckness of your post it is really not relevant. Suck it grouchy.
-
mine did this about 2 months ago so i did the thermal paste fix. it worked when i put it back together in the shop, so i moved it back to my tv and it went back to yellow. so i did the fix again and it worked for about 5 days and it broke again. so i just bought a new system. sucks cuz i liked the backwards compatibility
-
RIP
Sorry for your loss, bro -
I'd do the pseudo-LeftyMark trick.
Go buy a PS3 at Wal-Mart, put your broken one into the package, take it back the next day and say you got one from your mom for your birthday.
Obv do the glue trick to get your game out first...and still sucks that you'll lose data. -
Ive had PS3 and an Xbox 360 elite both since the day they came out and never had a problem, ship it. ( Or just dont play videos games for 10 hours a day nerds)
