I know he's voiced his disdain for those types of segments in the past. I try not to watch them when possible because ignorance is bliss and I hate the way I feel when I watch those (maybe thats the case for him too). They're so depressing -
If you ever get a chance to help make a dream happen like this I highly suggest it. Yep, it's emotional as hell but very much worth it.
-
i turn the channel. sorry i just flat out dont care or want to hear about it
-
Yeah, fuck espn and make a wish for arranging dreams for dying kids. My god how dare they give them an immaculate dream from of a life they sadly won't get to live. If you lack compassion or have general apathy towards it that's fine. But don't talk like it's such a pain in the ass for you, or that espn is in the wrong for doing it.

where did anyone say fuck ESPN? sure it's great that they do these things for the kids, that doesn't mean they need to film it and insert it right in the middle of Sportscenter. I watch ESPN for sports. -
These next few weeks are a really slow sports period. No NBA, NFL or NHL. No World Cup, Olympics, Tennis or Golf Majors. So they need to fill that 10-15 minutes each hour - and this is what ESPN does. SportsCentury, Greatest Whatever, My Wish - all summer filler stuff for ESPN.
That said - I am OK with this type of exploitation. -
I'm the same way, I love seeing big profile athletes taking a full day out of their schedule and making for the best day of the kid's life. Something so small for the athlete is the biggest thing in the world for the kid.
-
Exactly...we can only see the Top 10 plays (which have been AWFUL lately) so many times per show.

It's a filler, and it's morbidly enjoyable to see a dying kid have their dream fulfilled. -
i usually dont watch them cause I dont wanna be sad. You know the story already. Sick kid visits sports heroes. Its great. Im happy for the kids I just dont wanna be depressed. Does that mkae me a bad person?

"down syndrome retard kid" . really? -
uhh no, I watch ESPN to watch sports, not human interest stories... has nothing to do with my emotions while I watch them, which are neither laughter or depression

I can't believe how much I cry when watching tv and movies. It's weird.
-
i like it, sad....yes. these kids have something wrong with them and get a dream of theres to come true after such a tough life already at such a young age! all the people who hate them, that is your choice, but i would bet my BR that if your kid one day down the road was born with a birth defect and got to go hang out with a superstar for a day, i would bet that your hating father ass would suddenly be interested in ESPN's make a wish. jus saying. so enjoy it for the kids and the mothers and fathers of these young people and try to think how lucky you really are.
