Read about it people. Why do we continue to allow such blatant violations of the Constitution?
  2. We're fucked
  3. But Obama isn't going to use it...

  4. I read he was forced into signing it because the Repubs had added some Veterans benefits to the bill. So if Obama didnt sign the bill he would look like he was denying Vietnam Vets benefits. Its a fucking bullshit bill tho and just opens a pandoras box for the future. This shit is getting out of hand.

If Obama lacks the leadership abilities to explain why he has to veto a bill that helps to destroy civil liberties, he doesn't deserve the fucking office.
  6. I completely agree Steve. This bill can be abused to even more disturbing levels than Patriot Act. Dont know why any president would sign this.
  7. The idea of indefinitely detaining US citizens without even the slightest amount of due process is beyond absurd. And Obama's own statements regarding not using it for that are hypocritical. He already has authorized missile strikes against US citizens without due process.

  8. not sure how I ended up voting for george bush in 2008. fuck obama.
  9. The thing that is even more disturbing to me is that most the general population in this country just doesnt give a fuck about this type of stuff or just acts as if it doesnt apply or matter to them. As if this stuff will never have effects on them..the regular joes.
  10. I'm not a terrorist nor do I associate with people who have terrorist leanings or inclinations. I doubt very much this will impact me.
  11. meh... this shit ain't nothing. joe lieberman is coming for your sphincter.

    S. 1698: Enemy Expatriation Act
    112th Congress: 2011-2012
    10%
    90%
A bill to add engaging in or supporting hostilities against the United States to the list of acts for which United States nationals would lose their nationality.

Well for one mistakes can and will be made. And two this opens the door for judges rulings and other laws to be made that can impact you. Agree or disagree?

I do not agree with the act but its direct impact on me, the individual, is negligible.

I dislike when people ask a nuanced question then force only 2 choices. Sure it could open the door, I.E. police and judges deeming a drug dealer to have terrorist connections and holding them indefinitely. But any precedence set in those situations would be in relation to criminal activity, which I do not engage in or associate with people who do. So again, to me the individual, the chances it impacts me is negligible.

oh. well. atleast we know that you don't give a fuck about anyone else's constutional rights, just yours. Makes perfect sense. You better start a pac to get the niceguy carveout.

and you entirely discredit your first statement within your second statement.

  17. Welcome to politics - in order to pass something that you want, you have to sign something that contains a lot of shitty things. Why should any piece of govt legislation have to be 500 pages long?

  18. Isn't the foundation of conservatism the basis that people should have the right to follow their own individualistic pursuits? So if my individualistic pursuits are not being curtailed, what reason do I have to care that yours are? It may or may not be fair to you, but to me it's not a negative.

I think you are messing around here, but the reason it affects you is because it is another loss of individual rights and and when individuals lose rights it necessarily means the government gains power. It's analogous to some removing a single stone from the foundation of a building .Each stone removed weakens the foundation. Also, when you don't speak up for someone else who is losing a right or who may lose a right, there won't be anyone to speak up for you when it does directly affect you.

There is a principal at stake and it is being eroded. If you are an American citizen it affects you and everyone else negatively.

I swear I saw a video of Ayn Rand being interviewed one time and this is almost what she said verbatim as an answer to one of the questions. Of course instead of conservatism it was objectivism.
  22. Niceguy: if you believe what you just put then why have the 4th amendment period? I mean you aren't doing anything wrong so why should it matter if the police want to cone into your house, hand cuff you, and search? They won't find anything so who cares right?

  27. obama already started a war without congressional approval and killed american citizens without a trial. Clearly the laws do not apply to him.

The patriot act already covered terrorists. We already could throw them to the still open gitmo.
Notice the words "possible terrorist" are not even being used as justififation here in the new one.
There really isnt even a new neeeeeed for this unlessssss its NOT for terrorists.
Even liberals should be able to understand this. I know its hard to admit you voted for this clown but the time has come. Tell OT "im sorry. I didnt know i was electing Putin. We should have listened but UD and his cronies confused me and i caved. I cant think for myself. I need help." Then all will be forgiven when you toss that first molatov cocktail.

Im just glad the occupiers in denial have a new outlet where their original focus shouldve been in the first place...on the idiots who dont read bills before passing them.
Lets see how many actually see they were wrong. Nobody wants to admit they voted for a toolbag. I openly forgive you, lets just regroup and move on back to a free country for everyone but terrorists. Thank god its already election season. Nice timing lulz.
