  1. On a scholarship or when getting admitted into a program do they look at SAT ACT scores only? or high school marks as well?

what if you are 22 and a graduate of a college diploma program in Canada?

    thank you for your help.
  2. They are gonna look at your HS grades as well, if you have any volunteer work that looks good as well. A scratch handicap will help out the most, also any individual awards you have one. Just the more that can make you stand out the better.

  6. they will look at your grades and even if your godly some programs don't accept you. Nice job btw!
  7. Zee would only be able to tell you what his fake scholarship program was. Lol jk jk. As said they look at high school grades, comm. service, playing ability. I have no idea what this canadian thing you talk of is so cant be much help there. Are you looking to get a scholarship or did you recently get offered one?
  8. I believe you will have used up any
eligibility because of your age and since you have went to college in Canada. Im pretty sure its NCAA policy.

  9. Also since your profile says you are a golf professional (if you are an actual). Im almost positive that would take away your amateur status.

  10. You'll have to go through the NCAA Clearinghouse. They're gonna look at your SAT and ACT scores as well as HS marks, and some schools are a bit more leniant than others.

I'm currently getting back my amateur status, it takes a year to do so. My year began in Nov 08. But your right once you become a CPGA or PGA Professional you lose all amateur status, once you reapply for amateur status you lose all CPGA/PGA status.

My grades are fine from High school just haven't taken the new SAT. I did it 5 years ago when I applied for scholarships back then. So I probably should retake the new tests.

I went to a college here called Humber College which had a 3 year Professional Golf Management Diploma which I gained after 3 years.

So you think because of my college here, I would lose my years of eligibility?

I emailed the UCLA coach so hopefully he gets back to me.

    That sucks.

    you went to college?

  16. So an answer straight from the NCAA is once you begin a full time enrollment at any university or college no matter what country your 5 year clock of eligibility starts and once that is up you no longer have athletic eligibility.

  17. How did the 47 year old man get to play football then?
  18. Maybe he wasn't enrolled full time in a College or University.

I called the NCAA and asked them straight up so...take it up with them.

"I emailed the UCLA coach so hopefully he gets back to me."

UCLA won it all last year. I assume you were contacting him to possibly play there.

Oh hell no, I'm not good enough to play at UCLA. They were just the first school that popped into my mind.

NAIA do they offer scholarships of any kind?

  24. Im not sure if they offer scholarships, my friend played at Lewis and Clark St . you want wanna call around and ask there are some really good teams in naia
  25. Being a PGA professional myself, I understand the "amateur status" process to play in amateur tournaments again, but I am wondering if it still eliminates you from playing college golf. I would check that out as well before going too far.

You cannot play in a college or amateur tournament unless you are an amateur. College athletes are are amateur athletes in which case you must be an amateur to participate.

So you can't be a professional of any kind playing a college sport.

  27. Right I understand that, but what I am saying is once you turn professional I am pretty sure you cant go back an play college golf. It would like a 18 year old skipping college to play in the NBA, then stopping, skipping a year and go play for Duke. I dont think the NCAA will allow it once you turn professional to go back. I understand you can go back and play amateur golf tournaments, once you get you status back. I just dont think they are going to let you play college golf, even though they are amateur tourrnaments.

I could be wrong, but I had a buddy trying to do the same thing. Turned pro (PGA) out of high school, then wanted to go back to college.

  28. Well in Canada you must be enrolled or a graduate of a post secondary institution in order to even attempt to get your card so I'm sure this doesn't come up often.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you if you are an amateur though, your past has nothing to do with it.

If Lebron retired tomorrow stopped getting paid from sponsors and the Cavs, he could enroll at any NCAA school and have 5 years of eligibility without a problem.

  29. No he wouldnt be allowed to, but you should go to the NCAA website and fill out the amateurism eligiblity questionaire. Or just get ahold of them and ask before wasting any time. ncaa.org

Why would he not? He would just have to go through the board and apply for reinstatement because of breaking some amateurism rules. It is possible...but obviously never ever ever ever happens and they will never ever have to deal with a case like it.

As for the questionnaire I already have looked at when I was advised to after I called the NCAA. Nothing seems like a problem for me, may have to go before the board and present a case, but probably unlikely because I never won money in a tournament I played as a professional (didn't even play any tournaments as a professional).
