  1. So I bought a camcorder online last week because it was super cheap at the time. I got it in the mail today and just started messing around with it. The camcorder has a built in 64mb hard drive for the memory. I realized I would have limited recording time but I think something is wrong.

I have 0 files on the camera and in the lowest resolution I only have a little over 5 minutes of available recording time. If I go to the highest resolution, 720, I only have 33 seconds of recording time available. The standard resolution only gives me just under 2 minutes...and so on.

Is this normal? In the manual picture the display that shows the available time actually has it in hours. I was just wondering if anyone has, or was familiar with that type of memory on a camcorder and what kind of recording times they got.

I've googled the living daylights out of this and got nothing. Please help.
  2. 64mb isnt that much....cant u just record to something else i.e. a SD card or the miniDV?
  3. I can record to an SD card, just thought there would be more time available on the built in memory. Do the times seem right to you?

  4. lol ya 64 mb is nothing in terms of video memory. sd cards are incredibly cheap these days tho so thats good news for you.

edit. heres a pretty good deal on an 8gb card for $13.50 this should increase your recording times by about 125x

  5. Yeah, was planning on using one but the amount of time seemed super short. Probably because I know nothing about these things. Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it.

I literally just ordered that exact card. I went from the confirmation page to here. Too funny. Thanks again for the help.
