  1. F time warner Los Angeles. Past 3 weeks I have to unplug my router every half hour-2 hours, causing me to lose about 1k in equity most likely since I 16 table. The support is obviously no help, and the problem will most likely continue.

They mentioned static IPs but they only do that for businesses.

Is there any companies/connections that do something similar that could be close to 100% reliable?

    Thanks.
  2. Change to any company other than them if they are this shitty.

    +1, AT&T U-verse is your friend
  4. stack with back up dsl or partial t-1. Whichever is faster will always take over. You will need a static ip with this set up as well
  5. fios
  6. Are you sure it isn't the router? I had this happen with my old linksys and thought it was the isp. Once I bought the new router it was fine.

I've had it plugged in directly into the modem for the past week, just to make sure. They're coming out for a "support" call but i doubt that'll do anything since its, well, time warner.

For At&t- Do they have one of those static isp's? Or are those just for businesses too?

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to advanced internet/router/modem terminology/knowledge.

  8. you can sign up for a static ip service , but u wont notice a difference. DHCP release by an ISP will only take you down for ~10 seconds tops, once or twice a day- sometimes longer... I suggest getting a new modem from ur ISP, and if that does not resolve any problems, definetly invest in a dual load router with another ISP on the other end. you srs losing 1k equity I wouldnt be to worried about another ~$40m.. hope that helps- telco :)

Some good points here, staic IP has NOTHING to do with your problem. Get a new modem/router. If you are using DSL u prob just have a bad phone line, old lines can just cause drops. Worst comes to worst switch isps.

Im now very interested in what the most affordable personal load balancing solution for multiple outbound links.
  10. have TWC. had similar problems. went through 3 or 4 new routers, returning them all. traded in the router for a new one. no more dropped signals. try that if you haven't.

  11. Check to see if the new "Clear" is in your area.

100% 4g network. Should get as a backup if u a balla on teh pokerz.
