  1. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100713/...idge_shootings

    The cops who shot and killed innonecent people and tried to cover it up are about to go on trial. Were their actions justifiable under the extreme circumstances that existed in the days following Katrina because of stress, misunderstood orders from higher authority?

    If these shootings can't be justified, should prosecutors seek the death penalty against these former and present-day police officers?

    Obviously I wasn't there so I can't know what was going on or what the officers were thinking when they drew down and blasted away at these people, but it seems pretty evident none of these shootings can be labeled as justified.

    THIS IS NOT A RANT AGAINST POLICE IN GENERAL! WE NEED THESE GUYS! (We just need them to have enough sense to shoot at the right people, no matter what the circumstances might be, imo.)

    Would love to hear what Ess and OneM think about this.

    Good questions.

    I say we round up 12 random citizens, present them with evidence, and let them decide.

    Better yet, let's round up 12 of these people:
    To be legally qualified for jury service, an individual must:
    • be a United States citizen;
    • be at least 18 years of age;
    • reside primarily in the judicial district for one year;
    • be adequately proficient in English;
    • have no disqualifying mental or physical condition;
    • not currently be subject to felony charges; and
    • never have been convicted of a felony (unless civil rights have been legally restored

    From a group of people who are registered voters and/or who have drivers licenses in that district and who survive the jury selection process by the judge and the lawyers.
  5. doubt I'd want 17-year old non-English speaking felons that can't drive and are retarded deciding whether people go to jail or go free

  6. I haven't seen any videos or other stuff about this case but I can tell you that N.O. is ne of the only places this would have happened. NOPD is, and always has been, one of the most corrupt government agencies in the country. The reason being is they still pay below pverty level wages and for years waved background checks in order to get candidates. Shit they even had one female cop who shot and murdered another cop in an armed robbery. Obviously I couldn't ever speak to what humans do during a Katrina event but I know what type of person I am.
  7. Lol if I wasn't on phone that last sentence by ess would be perfectly followed by purp shirt
