  1. Money on stars for fix help. I got a new router yesterday(the old one was skipping and knocking me off stars for 1 minute or so every once in a while). So I set everything up and I get connection but it is super slow. videos on youtube have to be paused to let load. I have this one security protected and really am not sure where to start finding the problem. If you could guide me through it via pm I would appreciate it.
  2. What kind is it
  3. Change your name in your profile to Toni and you'll get all the help you need.

and what protocol is your computer using? ex 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n.
  6. you will need a wireless-N card in your computer to take full advantage of the N's speed. Also, what kind of service are you getting from your provider?

Here is what I would do:

1 - Change the channel the router is broadcasting on
2 - delete any profiles for the wireless adapter, do a new search for the router making sure you choose yours and not your neighbors.
3 - Call Linksys support they are very good and would appreciate the stars $
  9. I had a similar problem with my Linksys Wireless N Router but I changed the channel (like MC says) and it works like a charm. With everyone now having wireless there is a lot of things that can interfere with signals.
  10. changing the channels did not help. Im going to try and see if downloading the firmware will help. thx for the help

Yes but I would rather u do a Steak thread for the greatest Dallas Cowboys Picture or something. Or best picture of a ribeye, or best reason why waco sucks.

  13. Go to speedtest.net tell us what speeds you are getting. Try plugging directly to your modem and then go to speedtest.net tell us what speeds you are getting then. You need to isolate what is giving you your problem as was previously mentioned just getting a faster router won't always do the trick, your NIC needs to be compatible with the protocol.
  14. Many slowness issues with surfing from site to site can be resolved with bypassing your ISP's DNS servers and using one of the global DNS providers like opendns. It's free, safe, and simple to change. Here is an explanation and instructions if interested:
