1. The only reason anyone is talking about them at all is they playoff run. If they don't make the playoff or get bounced first round I don't think there is one Jets thread. I think they are slightly overrated as a team and Sanchez is greatly overrated. He's definitely has potential but he's still young and learning and will get better but right he's below average at best.

  2. I agree that 10-6 sounds about right, but that's at best. They have a hard schedule this year, especially with some tough road games to end the season (at NE, PIT and CHI). Doubt they'll do much damage in the playoffs if they make it.
  3. Great line as I think they will win either 9 or 10 games.

I'm leaning towards 9 because their offense smells.

I agree there are questions but 8 in the box??? Really???

After week 4 they will have Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller plus Tomlinson out of the backfield. 8 in the box aint gonna work sir. Also, that's what made their running game so impressive last year. Last season they actually were looking at 8 in the box on the regular and still managed to have the league's best running game. Their receiving corps last year was basically Cotchery, Brad Smith, and Keller until Edwards arrived late in the year.

I agree that the skill at the RB position took a hit this year, but the amount of 7 and 8 man fronts they will face once Holmes gets back (and even before) is gonna more than offset the loss of Thomas Jones and Faneca.
  5. lol @ this thread.

All of a sudden the Bengals (who went 6-0 in a moderately tough division) are a fluke

All of a sudden who expected the Chargers to win a playoff game? (Mostly everyone had them penciled into the SB over Indy going into the playoffs last year)

Please show me where anyone is overhyping Sanchez?

Starting to realize that Jet haters talk more shit than Jet homers.
  6. I'd bet the under all day long
  7. They will have a 100 win season. Brett Boon in Seattle style.

looooooool aren't the chargers penciled in to win the super bowl like every year? i mean come the fuck on, they're like the most underachieving team year in and year out.

and i'm not hating on the Jets at all, but they do play in a tough division and they are VERY VERY weak offensively. i'm actually a huge rex ryan fan, and i love how his teams play - but this post was about their season win total

  9. vs Baltimore Loss
    vs New England Loss
    at Miami toss-up
    at Buffalo Win
    vs Minnesota Toss-up
    at Denver Probably a Win
    vs Green Bay Loss
    at Detroit Win
    at Cleveland Win
    vs Houston Toss-up
    vs Cincinatti Toss-up
    at New England Loss
    vs Miami Win
    at Pittsburgh Loss
at Chicago Toss-up (leaning towards a loss)
    vs Buffalo Win

I see them losing at least 5 games, I think that the week 3 game at Miami may determine a lot for their season. If they start out 0-3, they are done. Then those toss-up games with Minn, Cincy, Houston get really important (especially in a wild-card race with Cincy and Houston) and I dont think they will win all 3 of those games. 9-7 with no playoffs prolly

    Serious question. Why?

They had the #1 running game in the NFL last season and they added Santonio Holmes and replaced a lot of Thomas Jones and a little Shonn Greene with a lot of Shonn Greene and a little Tomlinson. Plus they will have a 2nd year QB instead of a rookie.

I agree that their offense is the key this year because if it is strong they are scary good but why do you think their offense is "VERY VERY weak"?

doing a game by game win-loss-win chart in the NFL before the season has got to be the dumbest fucking thing ever...there are at least 5 teams that SERIOUSLY underperform and 5 that seriously overperform each year

    lol
  11. I'll take the under, Alex.

Homles is gone for 4 games. Braylon couldn't catch my glue stick. LT ain't LT anymore, the guy just isnt a feature 16 game back anymore. Shonn Greene should have a stellar year, but who knows.

Sanchez being a 2nd year QB means nothing, because he won't be good for at least a few more years. He will one day be good, but def not this season.

The D will be the saving grace of the team as I think the O will be weak, or average at best.

    lol

I agree somewhat just because of injuries, but you know what you are getting with Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit. There are 4 games you can pretty much call. I think Brady is gonna have another monster year so I am fairly confident in 2 more. I am a Broncos fan and have serious doubts about them, I'm willing to bet the Jets win that game, now up to 7 out of 16. Playing @ Pittsburgh is going to be rough in December, especially if Polumalu stays healthy and Ben doesn't rape any chicks during the season, pretty confident in a loss, 8/16. Green Bay's starters look dominant, so as long as Rodgers doesn't get hurt, it's gonna be hard to win that game. 9/16. The rest are probably toss-ups as I have stated

I find it interesting that you list all of the reasons why the Jets should improve but leave out that they let Faneca leave and that they have huge issues at LG.

I also think Sanchez would not be the best QB to shit the bed in his 2nd season, far from it actually.

With a gun to my head I say 9-7 even if Revis signs today.

Faneca was let go because he was making a ton of money and was an awful pass protector. He was a great run blocker and that is where his departure will be felt. Slaussen is gonna win the job and it seems that he is a good run blocker also so time will tell i guess.

If Revis is on the field for Week 1, I truly believe this is an 11 win team that is built to play in Dec and Jan, but I can easily see it going south if the close games dont go their way. Same as any contender outside of the Colts actually.
  17. under. 9 wins

Serious answer - Mark Sanchez. Career QB rating in the 60's, 12TD to 20INT's last year - what did he magically do in the offseason that's going to vastly improve on this? Can't stress it enough how important the QB position is in the NFL.

Also, all you Jets homers are not getting the point. It's a sports bet, so you must look at it from a probability perspective - do you honestly think Sanchez wins 10+ games more than he wins 7, 8 or 9 games in 2010? I think this team CAN win 10 games - but we are looking at the VALUE of this particular sports bet.

I think this line is pumped up to 9.5 from all the hype the Jets are getting, the Jets haven't tremendously upgraded from the 9 win team they were a year ago (remember 2 of those wins the other teams rested starters btw), I think their schedule is more difficult this year, and in a QB league only a small portion of the teams are getting 10+ wins - and they all have elite QB's.

  19. lol at career qb rating....he was a rookie last year dude...they won 9 games with those stats you listed and even though it is always possible for a 2nd year qb to take a step back, he has been surrounded with better weapons this year so you would expect at least a small step forward, which in my opinion is enough to make them an 11 win team....would I set the over/under line at 11? no way...i think 9.5 is pretty spot on and I'm pretty sure that this team would win 11 as much if not more than than 8 if this season was simulated a bunch of times

its not about being a homer.....and its probably not about you being a hater...its about a difference of opinion

Would rather root for a team that loses by a point to a good Ravens team than a team that barely beats a shitty Bills team
  24. I'll take the under, Jets will be lucky if they get into playoffs with a wildcard berth and lose this year
8-8 seems about right, and Sanchez throws more INT's than TD's

So lets double it to 5. What kind of odds do I get???
  27. LOOOOL @ bumping your own seasonal over/under thread after 60 minutes of a season has been played.
  28. Seriously, buncha blind idiocy ITT.

I blame yesterday on Schottenhemier, and the lack of discipline obv.

How can you not challenge them downfield a couple times?

Seems like most Jet haters seem to misremember that the Ravens are the most complete team in the AFC.

I still am fully confident the Jets will make the playoffs.

PM San Francisco, Dallas and San Diego about beating crappy/so so divisional opponents on the road to start the season.

You take a win where you can get it. Some will be close some will not. Did you apologize to anyone last year when you were let into the playoffs by the Colts? no didn't think so.

And what the fuck is wrong with people getting so butt hurt. When your team loses, especially if they don't look good, people are going to talk smack about your team. Happening with me right now being a White Sox fan. Stop being so defensive and whiney.

Oh and gg Kris Jenkins. Out for the year

I don't think this is Schottenheimer's fault. It was like Sanchez didn't even look downfield, he just would look to hit the safety valve. If he doesn't improve, I'd be pretty worried about starting 0-3 and if so, GG playoffs.
