I tend to think its the latter since last year he seemed to have no problem chucking the ball up in any situation and throwing a ton of picks.Originally Posted by juanyorba

I think it was a combination of Baltimore's pressure and the constant drilling all off season about how careful he needs to be with the ball. It's only normal for him to over-compensate the 1st game, especially against Ray Lewis and the Ravens. Week 2 will answer that question because as good as the Pats can be on defense no matter who their players are, they are not gonna come close to matching that pressure.
Schottenheimer is a different story. The guy is so Jekyll and Hyde its maddening. He looks so smart some times, and other times he looks like Paul Hackett's little sister. The misdirection plays they ran last night worked pretty well and yet they didn't use it enough when it was clear that nothing else would work and as much as Sanchez has to get the ball upfield, if you see he isn't doing it then you have to adjust at half time.
I dont care if it means going max protect with 2 WRs in the pattern here and there, you HAVE to stretch any defense, especially an attacking one like the Ravens (look what they were able to do against the Jets down the field). The Ravens were starting 2 journeymen CBs and there was no Ed Reed behind them FFS.
