    (artist's rendition of what the planet might look like inhabiting alien life)

    Scientists have discovered an Earth-like plant approximately 31 light years from Earth and there’s a strong possibility of it harboring life. HD85512b orbits an orange dwarf in the constellation Vela and is the right distance from the sun to make it one of the most Earth-like planets ever discovered.

    Just a note for those too lazy to read the article, the picture in the OP is an artist's rendition of what an "Earth-like" planet might look like. It is not an actual picture of the planet they located.

    Lets get one of those unmanned orbiters built and send it that way, I'd be willing to wait 60-80 yrs or w/e it'd take.

    Uh, with our current technology, it would take ~550,000 years.

    according to Hawking, we will already be transitioning from earth to other planets by that time in order to avoid extinction
