I thought it was excellent and fully expect to enjoy every episode. It's like Sports Night re-incarnated only an hour long, about actual news instead of sports news, and is on HBO; all of which makes perfect sense considering he created both shows.
-
This was one of the best new shows I've seen in a long time. I'm really looking forward to the season.
-
It was a damn good show.
-
Aaron Sorkin + good actors + no commercials + no censors = tv heaven

From the preview it looks fucking retarded. Finally what we've all been waiting for, another lib hollywood "repubs are bad umkay" show! Oh, but this time the guy is a repub, just not the kind that thinks hurricanes are caused by gay marriage! Ohhh he's one of the good ones! Herrrrrrrrrrrpmfderp.
-
This is exactly why I refuse to watch the show.

I thought it was entertaining. Definitely will be watching it this summer.

It was okay.

Answer the question do you think America is the greatest country in the world?

I watched about 20 minutes and was bored, I guess I need to give it another try in a different mind set
-
I saw previews for this a dozen times and for some reason thought it was a movie coming out this summer, not a show.
It looks pretty good and there ain't shit else on tv right now until the new season of Breaking Bad, so I'll be checking out last night's episode tonight and watching it from now on. Thx for the heads up. -
Pretty good episode. Always great dialogue in an Aaron Sorkin-written show.
-
First episode of veep was good then it was unwatchable

Longtime Sorkin fan here. I like his idealism, even if our ideals don't align perfectly. The West Wing is my favorite show, ever. I'm cautiously optimistic about Newsroom. There's a lot to like, but right now it feels a little too formulaic (as did Studio 60). Plus I've never been a huge fan of Jeff Daniels.
-
liked the first ep... it has potential...
-
So is Erin Andrews going to show up in this season or does Sorkin just have a weird boner for her? The writing in of her name repeatedly seemed strange to me.
-
Just finished watching it. Definitely thought it was better than just ok. The premise alone of having a mainstream news program that calls out bullshit artists and spin doctors who work for the government or big corporations, discusses real issues, and never pulls any punches no matter how powerful or intimidating the opposition, is enough to get me interested.. On top of that I thought the acting and writing were very good; maybe a little over the top with the "we're gonna change the world" rants, but it still felt realistic.
The intensity in the second half of the episode was great, and I like the rivalry between the Harper guy and the old EP. Next week's episode looks kinda meh but I'll definitely check out a few more episodes based on the premier. -
Watched it tonight, definitely pleased. Only thing I didn't like was Sam Waterston, who was just tooo over the top.
unreal pleased to have a full commercial free hour of Sorkin every week though, my god.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the premise of the episode. I hope they are able to blend real world problems like the oil spill in the Gulf into more episodes down the road.

that was kinda neat, and jeff daniels was awesome. the rest of it i was indifferent on, a lot of the acting seemed too over the top to me. i really liked the opening, but i had pretty much already seen it anyway. -
To me, there are numerous parallels between it and Sports Night and I loved the latter. I thought every second of the show was great once they were on the air. The blowup scene was cool too.
Which actors seemed over the top to you? I thought the nervous "assistant" was fine and I loved the new EP's right hand man. -
The scene with the old dude from Law and Order at the restaurant was way over the top.
