  1. Does anyone know if they allow fans to come to this? The seats look completely empty. I would imagine it would be a fun thing for the diehards to go to, and I'm sure make $ for the league. (cause you know..they need it)

Watchign the combine on TV is like when I turn it to olympic curling-I think ok, i'll watch for a minute or two see what its all about. Then 3 hours later I come up for air and realize I havent moved.

  2. pretty sure its not open to the public
  3. yeah im watchin, nfl combine is always good.
  4. It's addicting

Watched all the workouts yesterday and same today...will also watch tomorrow and Tuesday. Love me some scouting combine.
  5. its deff not open for "fans" lol i dont think those guys want people yelling ROLL TIDE or GO BUCKEYES during a job interview!
  6. but yeah you would think if they sold tickets for 5 a seat they would make some change over the 4 or 5 days. then they could donate it to charity or put it in a players pension or whatever.

  7. I don't see the problem with fans yelling things. Wouldnt that be more like "on-the-job" training? Its not going to be silent when they play for real.

  8. I'm sure the coaches/gm's do not want fans there while they are there.
  9. I love the combine... whats the deal with those underarmor glowing things on the chest tho...

the problem with fans is the noise...there is a lot of coaching going on saying this is how this drill is run, etc and crowd noise would make that impossible, especially with all the stations they have running
  12. I agree, but I think theres ways around it. Maybe only fill the lower bowl. Maybe charge more so its a more "sophisticated'' fan that isnt consuming mass beverages and knows not to be beligerent etc.

I'm sure the people whos job it is to actually think about these things have thought of all the ways and decided its best to NOT have the fans present. It would just be a cool experience

if preseason tickets are full price i'm pretty sure the nfl would charge full price for the combine
  14. i would def go if it was open to public. soo addicting to watch.
  15. 2 things that jumped out to me...

AJ Green out benching Julio Jones and Noel Devine is strong as shit
  16. yeah Julio is raping the combine.

re: fans, there is just too much distraction and potential to bias the data set by letting a crowd influence results. Sure the players have to play in front of crowds (as they always have) but the combine is to measure raw skills, and biased fans could create an imbalanced environment. I'm next to certain there will never be fans at the combine.

just saw this from the tweet wire:

Veteran scout: Cam Newton “looks terrible” during Combine workout

  17. Not sure why that pic is in this thread. All I said was out benching...I always thought Julio was much stronger than AJ.

Newton seems like a Jamarcus Russell in the aspect of putting in the time to get better.

everyone assumes Green to be the 1st WR taken.

Is it not OK to compare the two?

  19. I came in to post about how bad cam newton looks. I haven't watched every drill but in every one I have watched, he has consistently overthrown receivers, played slow and generally just put on a dog shit performance.
  20. Doubt another first round qb prospect who doesnt neeed to throw takes a chance doing all these drills again for a few years.
At least not one thats not considered a standard dropback passer. Well i couldnt blame them.

He did well passing and drill wise. Lots of debate of "would you take him top 10 now?" Obv inconclusive hearsayaments. Seemed pretty impressive to me but who knows. They mentioned miami and minnesota as possibilites and obv seattle for the fans...that was one of the few segments i caught.

Also caught newton some and his interview on set. His interview really showed how shit blows up out of proportion.
