  1. Judge Nelson granted players' prelim injunction to lift the lockout....

    Weee?
  2. Raiders about to go beast mode! Watch out NFL.
  3. ya but how long will the appeal process take?

The immediate impact of the ruling on the status of an estimated 500 free agent players and other player transactions is uncertain. If the league does not get the court to stay the ruling pending an appeal, the league will have to open its doors for players. The NFL also will have to decide whether to impose a similar system that has been in place under the previous collective bargaining agreement that expired on March 11.
  4. you realize the owners will file insta-appeal right?

what do you mean by snap kicked
  8. w00t Judge Nelson.

Just so everyone is clear, if there is no NFL season next year it will be because of an owner lockout, not because of a player strike.

I am assuming their appeal will be rescinded.

  10. Eagles need to trade Kolb now while they got the chance!
  11. Odds the Redskins have a 6+ year contract with a FA done before draft day? Set the o/u at 1:1.

Edit: Ok I guess they can't start FA until the appeal is denied, but still you have to at least think they'll be the 1st team strike, right? Delayed free agency is basically the equivalent of blue balls to Daniel Snyder. You know he's gunna shoot his load as soon as the floodgates open.

  20. Judge Nelson just rejected NFL's request for a stay. They are now asking the 8th circuit.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6439599

U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson wrote late Wednesday that the NFL "has not met its burden for a stay pending appeal, expedited or otherwise."

  21. It's pretty ironic that the NFL's defense is that if the lockout ends then the NFL will be violating antitrust laws and thus can't be forced to end the lockout. Only in America.

The article makes it sound like trades and free agency are allowed immediately, if so Kevin Kolb's time as an Eagles is down to hours.

Technically speaking it was open the moment she made her ruling but there is absolutely no way any owner or management person will make a move until the 8th circuit has their say or Goodell green lights it

The league is still not allowing trades or FA, nor is it expected to be allowed before the draft tomorrow. They're apparently stalling for the decision of the 8th Circuit Court.

However, in the interim, FA and trades technically SHOULD be allowed in compliance with Judge Nelson's decision. Here's a pretty good article from PFT (easy to read for those not into the law jargon) outlining the situation:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ness-as-usual/

So basically FA should be allowed right now and the NFL is running in contempt of the court's decision by disallowing it, however, nothing will be done about it before draft day.

ESPN is saying that the 8th circuit will decide on the stay this afternoon, but even if the lockout is lifted normal NFL processes wont start till monday. We could see some wink-wink nudge-nudge trades in the draft this year. I would assume teams could agree to something and wait until Monday to finalize it.
