So no lockout in our favorite sport, and here we come week 3!
In the early games: can the Bills keep the magic alive vs the Pats? who can score more the Texans or the Saints? hey Lions, conference road game, are you ready to do the damn thang? late window is pretty rough and I know there is already a gb/chi hthread but let's get it on! -
Colts gonna wax that ass in Primetime......oh yeah, I forgot.
Nevermind, nothing to see here. -
Lions go 3-0 with a 35-10 victory over vikings...
-
Rams go 0-3 and Bradford breaks his leg with our luck on the injury front this year .... FML
-
I had to work this morning so my NFL thread was gonna be late, guess I lose ARPT, whcih is all that really matters apparently.
Pats and Buffalo seems like a pretty obvious welcome back to reality for Buffalo. They've somehow ended up with a pretty terrific offense up there, but Brady's going for like 6,000 this year and getting into a shootout vs him doesn't seem like the way to go.
Miami is so bad at home, but do they actually have a road field advantage? I think they're just an awful team in general, and it blows my mind that people are picking them on the road, even if Cleveland is also not the finest team...
SF is a better team than the Bengals, but the whole west coast 10am thing really does seem to work most of the time. I expect that this is a fairly important game in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes, and actually wouldn't be surprised if the Niners win by like 2 touchdowns. Cincinnati is so bad that I just don't imagine I'll be picking them very often though. Niners win.
Tennessee should have a cakewalk this week vs Denver, and I expect the Eagles to do horrible things to the Giants regardless of Vick's availability and performance.
Also seems like a reality check is coming for everyone's favorite bandwagon team, the We've Never Done a Fucking Thing but Finish 8-8's. Brees doesn't have nearly the team he did two years ago, but it should be enough.
Cam Newton gets his first win as an NFL starter, and might not need to put up 400 yards to do it. Good NFL quarterbacks have traditional manly man names, like Joe, John, Dan, Jim, and Tom. Blaine sounds quite femmy, and I imagine he'll be spending most of his day on his back.
Divisional road games are tough, so it surprises me how much nutswinging Detroit is getting this week. I mean, I think they'll win, and they're obviously the better team, but this is the sort of game the Vikings will show up for and it should be closer than people think.
I think the Raiders are pissed off at themselves for giving away the game last weekend, so I think they come out looking to crush people and slip past the Jets this weekend
Ravens and Chargers games don't seem worth discussing, easy wins.
GB/Chi should be the game to watch this weekend, but I don't think the Bears are as good as some of the huggers still seem to think, and I think they lose at home.
How are so many people on the Falcons in TB? I think if the Bucs remember at some point that they have a player on their roster by the name of LeGarrette Blount, they win this game and it's not particularly close.
The biggest mindfuck pick this week is the Arizona-Seattle game, which probably wouldn't be on TV if they were both in the Pac-10. I can't for the life of me figure out how the ESPN football guys unanimously picked a shitty Arizona team to go into Seattle and win. Last year I had the "pleasure" of attending this game. Yes, there are people who think that Arizona has a real quarterback now, but I've never seen a team filled with so many shit players (and an absurdly frustrated Fitz) and they don't really look much better. Seattle, despite being awful, has one of the best home field advantages in professional sports and simply doesn't lose at home to awful teams even when they are also awful. Hawks win, temporarily drop out of the lead in Suck For Luck.
Pittsburgh ldo. This year has the worst schedule of prime time games I've ever seen because so many of the 9-10 win teams from last year are atrocious.
Monday night I can't see the Redskins winning, or really even being within 14. -
The 49ers have been playing good this year so far. I believe they are going to beat the bengals and I want to take the spread vs a friend of mine tomorrow.
-
They've been playing good but they should be 2-0 as they gave that game to the Cowboys. San Fran is a talented team, but its still young and immature at some positions and woefully average at other key positions(QB). Smith, while improved w/ harbargh as coach, still takes too way too many sacks that just kill drives and games. Too many young mistakes like the neutral zone infraction right before the half is a perfect example. This team will be much better in year 2,3,and 4 under Harbaugh esp if you get a top flight QB, but it might be a little too much to expect San Fran to win the west division this year.

Nobody is catching DBo Fo Sho anyway.
Patriots have so many injuries, that combined with their already poor pass defense to date makes me worry about this game. Then the other part of me says it is going to be a blowout -
lets go lions. donovan ends this day sitting in a hospital bed, book it
i think texans vrs saints is going to be an all time classic -
FFS how the hell is Tampa one of the few places in the country where the Eagles v Giants game isnt being aired. God I hate the fucking Bucs and the shitty fans who dont support shit...

With Hillis out Miami has to win this. -
And on another WTF moment that athletes always seem to give us every year, Jerome Simpson of the Bengals is caught up in a drug ring and is being implicated after 2.5 POUNDS were shipped to his house. Cops also found 6 more pounds of mary jane in his house.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/70...st-sources-say
When i first heard it i thought it was 2.5 oz, and i was like, well who wouldn't want some dank cali weed shipped to them.
Damn just saw that Megatron leads the league with 33 td receptions since he came in as a rookie, with a backup QB half of the time. GO LIONS! FEAR THE ROAR BABY!!!!

You do realize that 4 of those teams made up the worst of the worst last year and the colts are one of the worst teams this year. Sox will get sewpt though -
I do realize everything i mentioned. Do you realize by covering the spread the Colts don't have to win?

We agree the Soxs get swept tho. :D -
does anyone like the giants at +9 or are the eagles gonna put the smashing to them
-
Miami pick'em
Saints -4
Giants/Eagles over 47
Steelers -10
Dolphins/Browns under 41.5
gg money -
Yeh res I agree. And FWIW the Eagles have won by 23, 10, 7, and 7 in their last 4 games against the Giants with the larger margin of victories coming at home. So I dont think that line is a stretch at all, divisional game or not.
-
This game is tough to call and im a giants homer so i'd almost always go with the points, but with Manningham and Hixon out, one can easily see Bad Eli for good portions if not the whole game against the eagles secondary. However, Atlanta showed u can run all over Philly and thats what the Giants do best.

As for the philly offense vs giants defense, U KNOW the Giants will come out and lay it all on the line today, esp. Tuck. If u get pressure on Vick u can beat Philly and u have a chance to knock vick out the game. its hard not to think with all the injuries on defense for the giants, that Philly won't put up 30+ points this game though. -
No one quoted this yet? Nice.
