  1. Any hockey fans left?
I hate the new rivalry schedule. I am so sick of Ottowa and Toronto playing.
The 0 tolerance is crap too.
I like that they made the game faster, but players are scared to touch each other.
  2. hate the new rivalry schedule? rly?

sick of toronto ottawa playing? rly? i am not a fan of either team, but that is some entertaining hockey right there.

i do wish they would lighten up on the penalties a little. i like a a very physical game. however, i understand the reasoning. being more strict will decrease injuries and increase power plays (more goals).
  3. The NHL has always had a rivalry schedule. Just like baseball, just like football....I don't get your point. NHL 8 of 82 games against rivals, 10 percent. Football....2 of 18 right??? Is there a difference?
  4. still a few of us left. I make the 2 hr journey to Columbus to watch about 10 games a year. Always will be an Islanders fan in my heart tho.
Every sport seems to be getting sissy minded lately. Pretty soon every sport will be men in tight shorts and high heels screaming like school girls. No touch, wont even be alowed to throw or shoot a shot because the puck/ball might hit somebody and leave a nasty bruise.
  5. it used to be less. they increased it this year
  6. I agree they play their division rivals too much. I like watching divsion games as much as the next guy. But each team used to play every team at least once at home. Now they they only play teams from the other conference just once. I'm a Caps fan out here in Vegas, and would go to LA, Anaheim, and Phoenix to go see them play, but they're not playing any of them this year. I think people want a chance to go see Ovechkin, Crosby, and all the young stars at least once during the season, and a lot of them won't have a chance.
  7. I realize that. I'm only saying, in part, that the NHL is now meeting a precedent set by other sports.
  8. I think the new rules are great. It has not "sissy"ed the sport at all, you are still able to make legal hits on someone who possesses or has just passed the puck, and you can frigging light them up if you want. The stuff they are cutting back on is not the big, heavy hits, its all the "sissy" clutching and grabbing that D used to do to try to slow down high-powered scorers. Now those scorers are freed up and it makes things more exciting, but you still see big hits plenty too.

The blue jackets got dealt a bad beat with the schedule having so much time off right after the season started. They should start getting it in gear tonight, and if they don't, there is going to be a pretty big uprising here in the next week or two because enough is enough.

I do think they should cut the division games from 8 to 6 and play the other conference more. I'd like to see all the teams here at least once a year, would make it more interesting.
  9. i got beef with the whole peter bondra case. Y is he not on a team yet, this guy is better than almost every player on any team right give or take a few guys. He is good , definitely not washed up. Did you guys see him in the olympic games, dude roasted, put some hard checks on people , received some hard hits also, and managed to score 5 sweet ass goals.
  10. lack of fighting and hitting? see Cam Janssen

tired of the 0 tolerance? see Evgeni Malkin vs NJD 10/24/06

tired of the rivalry games? see last April when DIVISION RIVALRY games determined playoff seeding.

    thread is closed.
  11. Haha, you're such a homer :P. But ya, every team has at least one player who is great to watch for hitting and fighting, even under the new rules. Most exciting player in the NHL to watch...Jordin Tootoo. Maybe a slight exaggaration, but watch the Preds and you'll see what I mean.
  12. No hitting? Watch the highlight of Ovechkin breaking the glass with his body check the other night against Colorado.
  13. Hitting is just about the only thing to look forward to in my hockey watching. I'm a f-ing Kings fan and we suck some serious ass. I'd like to say that I hate the whole re-building season, but what the hell are we re-building to? F having no winning tradition! F the Ducks! GG hopes for the playoffs this season.
