  1. Quick search found 2009s edition.

    Biggest Fish:

    Ilya Kovalchuk

The fun begins at noon tomorrow, but there have been minor team moves and rights-deals lately.

    Enjoy the festivities!
  2. doubt this gets much love due to the NBA Free Agency period beginning in a few hours...

    fyp

terrible crop of FA's this year.

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forwards Kris Versteeg and Bill Sweatt from the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night in exchange for forwards Viktor Stalberg, Philippe Paradis, and Chris DiDomenico

Figured something like this was coming, Versteeg's name has been thrown out there quite a bit lately.

Good trade for the leafs as versteeg and Stalberg are the same age, and versteeg is much more proven.

  8. Pens better sign Hamhuis after trading for just his rights. Gonna be real embarassing for them if they don't.

they traded a conditional 6th round pick or something...doubt they will be embarrassed.

it'll get its due. as i said, there are trades mainly to free up cap space. the Hawks were hurting due to the fact guys like Toews and Kane earned performance bonuses and some others were due raises either now or very soon.

the Devils waived over $3M in cap space today, but also signed Clarkson for 3 years.

im still hoping we sign Kovalchuk because that would be huge. perhaps even Kurtis Foster from Tampa. did well with Oates coaching the PP and lord knows the Devils need help on the man advantage.

It was a 3rd round pick for next year and I don't think it was conditional.

Shero is banking his rep that he has a good relationship with Hamhuis on this trade. No, it wouldn't be a disaster if he isn't signed but hate to give away a 3rd rounder for nothing.
  12. Pens traded Hams rights the other day... Hes stated he wants to play in Western Canada...

    Chicago getting interesting hmmm.

LOLs at Dallas stars signing euro players to fill voids. How does a 27mil team sound to you? That is prolly high too.

goalies under RFA/UFA are going to get man-crushed in signings/trades. some of these guys need to pay bills i would guess, and will be happy to play...

    KHLamentz...

Philly got a decent price on Leighton, not a bad deal at all. Could still sign and trade him for value possibly. But I like that move, could still grab Turco/Mason and a 5th D at that price with out breaking the bank too fwiw.
  13. Gonchar a Senator 3yrs 5.5M/yr

    Biron a Ranger

    Z. Michalek going to market.

Rangers in Kovalchuk sweepstakes (they need to make a MAJOR $ trade to pull this off)?

Paul Martin, the next best D man outside of Gonchar, rumored to be in discussions with the Penguins

    Michalek to Pittsburgh.

Martin not signing. Hamhuis probably not gonna be a Pen either.

No Kovalchuk news nor Kaberle news.

  14. Flyers trade for Andrej Meszaros from TB for a 2nd rd pick and resign Coburn for 2 yrs.

    Pretty good top 5 D.
  15. Habs sign Alex Auld 1 year at 1M.

Good reliable signing. I guess Price will be #1 by default now.

At least it leaves $$ to maybe resign Dominic Moore or maybe go after Frolov.

    Go Habs Go..

July 1 always a fun day to watch the action.
  16. Everything crazy now. Not many signings, but Martin to LA or Pittsburgh should be decided soon.

Paul Martin a Pen according to ESPN.

why do Devils have to go to divisional rivals? WHY!?!?!?!?

  17. San Jose - On the first day of the NHL's annual free agent frenzy, Niittymaki, 30, signed a two-year deal that will pay him a reported $2 million each season, or about $3 million less than Nabokov earned last season.

    Mason to Atlanta - boooooooom!

    Hamhuis to Canucks

    Ellis to Tampa Bay

    Whitney to PHX

    Boogard to Rangers

    Tanguay to Flames

Jokinen back to Flames in the works...

Jody Shelley to Philly - Carceillo is shiting his pants atm...

Turco/Mason/Nabokov be lucky to get 3mil some where at this point. Turco will sign with Philly by days end if he is smart, 2 mil + incentives. Or San Jose, got to know he has a better shot in Phi tho. Washington will either give Nabby 4mils or he KHLsit lols Could end up in Atlanta I guess.

Rumors SJ talking to Turco for #1 job. Where does that leave Greiss

  18. I'm sure mcphee will sit on his hands and not address the defense or 2nd line center in DC.

All signs pointing to another early postseason exit for the caps again next year.

DC: the san jose of the east

  19. Chris Mason is Atlanta's new No. 1 goalie, signing a two-year deal with yearly salaries of $1.6 and $2.1 million.

Starting jobs are starting to disappear. Going to be more than a few sol G.

    Philly adds D Sean O'donnell

  20. Nittymaki is a good signing for San Jose. Please god don't let them sign Turdco....

Nitty was pretty solid last season and would make a good backup to Greiss if Greiss proves that he's ready to be a #1 tender.
  21. Tallinder and Volchenkov are Devils

Devils still in Kovalchuk hunt, likely to make another cap-space move (according to GM)

    Something brewin in LA

  22. Looks like Ladd was traded to ATL for Vishnevskiy and a 2011 2nd rounder.

Another good move for the Hawks, but also good for the Trashers.
  23. The fact Boogaard got 1.65 million per year is absolutly laughable. Good for Boogy getting that big of a contract but if your an NHL GM you have to be on acid to give him that much money. Looking at you Glen Sather.

Also Jokinen back to the Flames is fairly commical as well.
  24. Habs sign Dustin Boyd to a 1-yr $650,000 deal.

    Good depth signing for cheap.
  25. Fuck i wanted the Sharks to re-sign Manny, damn u Vancouver u are sooo lucky

you watch your hoar mouth hoar! once the caps are ALL RUSSIAN, ALL THE TIME it will work itself out naturally.
  27. Gagne just waived his no trade clause. Sad panda.

    Pretty lack luster FA year

  28. omg omg omg my islanders offered Kovy 10y/10 mil! One time!
  29. "Derek Boogaard will be paid $4700 per minute this next season if he averages the same ice time he did in 2009-10. Alex Ovechkin received $5000 per minute."

Gagne > Quick is in the rumor mill, with JVR being thrown around as part of the trade also? Hope he beast it where ever he goes. I mean not like its going to be hard to top his 20 consecutive games played last season ;)
