Find out if they offer what Minnesota is offering to not refund the ticket money. Only teams I would not trust offering 10% would be Pheonix, Columbus, and Florida.

It's amazing. No matter what crap David Stern and Roger Goodell pull, they can never be the worst commissioner in professional sports as long as Gary Bettman has a job.
blah blah expletive blah blah bring back the Whale blah blah, that's how I feel. -
I think it's mostly a tactic by the union to get their best players to play in other leagues to show the nhl that there are other places to make a living

Haven't been paying attention to the lockout because of the Dodgers stretch run/football starting. Can somebody please give me a brief synopsis of the key issues, and they're best guess as to when this thing ends?

Edited By: TMLMS13 Sep 19th, 2012 at 12:29 AMOwners want a bigger share of the Total Revenue. That is the only meaningful thing. End o/u I will put at Dec 10th and the first game being the Dec 26th.Originally Posted by marc1313

The season shut down line will prob be Jan 1st -
isnt this exactly how nba went down? the 2 sides held informal meetings today, and will again tomorrow. I see this as a positive step as I can't imagine they would talk 2 days in a row if they were still stuck on the same shit they were a week ago. though ive been proven wrong before.

Pretty pissed theres no hockey this year :(
I know most guys are gonna sign KHL contracts with teams that limit up to 3 NHL players per team. Which means the majority are gonna move down to AHL teams and ECHL is gonna pretty much get a stimulus package of players.
Any thoughts on this? I know u Canadian fans prob know a lot more than I do.... -
the only guys that will go to the ahl are nhl players that are on 2 way contracts. I dont think ahl teams would legally be allowed to have anyone else. its not like sidney crosby can play for scranton wilkes barre. they cancelled all pre season games up until september 30th today. also, theres already a thread about this somewhere. the owners will 'win' again, and continue the trend of taking more and more from the players. yes, the players are millionaires, but the owners are worth in the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars and when youre telling the best hockey players in the world that in the game of hockey, theyre only worth 47% of league revenue, its a fucking insult. it would be like going on shark tank, having the investors think your invention is worth billions and then demanding that you give up majority control over the thing you created. has gary bettman ever even been on skates? unlikely, but he's acting like him and the owners ARE hockey
-
Ok so where are guys like sid, stamkos, giroux etc going?

anyone in MN see they are offering 10% interest on season tickets if you keep them?
I might buy a couple seats just for the 10% and sell most games -
fuck Gary Bettman
-
You may want to read further into it. Pretty sure they said the 10% kickback can only be used towards the following seasons tickets. So unless you're gonna go big time on the hockey ticket scalping you may want to wait. I only read one article so I may be misremembering tho.
-
you may be right, i only saw a snippet and head hearsay, would obv talk to them before buying ro make sure. Read in the non evil empire about 10% and didnt mention anything about what it acutally was other than money back for value of tix
-
My boss has Ducks season tickets and they are getting 5%. Think he was going to look at buying more just for the ROI, but idk if the offer is only good for tickets purchased pre-lockout
-
please let this new deal finish off this garbage lockout

For the first time since the NHL owners locked out the players a month ago, there is a palpable sense of optimism the season can be saved.
The wave of good feeling arrived at noon Tuesday when NHL commissioner Gary Bettman laid a new offer from the league owners that called for a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenue with the players on the table at the National Hockey League Players’ Association offices in Toronto. After a conference call in the early evening with the union executive and bargaining committees, word filtered out the NHLPA will present a counterproposal either Wednesday or Thursday. -
Well it was a brilliant PR move by NHL to release this offer. Put the ball in the NHLPA's court. I hope it works and it gets settled but it is Donald Fehr so I don't have too much confidence.
-
I have a weird feeling NHLPA will come back with something that will need more time from the NHL because they probably sense some weakness.
What was everyones thoughts on that PR marketing thing the NHL did the other day and was leaked? Seemed like their sample wasnt very indicative of hockey fans... -
NHL put in a 5 year cap on contracts with 5% variance max.
That will not go over well with the PA, insta shot down there I think -

these guys break it down pretty well on the big things in it. -
Last lockout Jeremy Roenick a flyer at the time laid into the fans after the season got cancelled and about how he sensed a lack of outrage. I wrote a letter to the paper and it got published basically telling him to go fuck himself. They settled the lockout that day.

did you not see the other NHL thread
