Lockout might be over by then.. I think DiPietros contract might be up by then..
-
Wish the company I worked for proposed an offer of splitting revenue. Why should the Owners have to split, they have all the risk when purchasing the organization.
The employer can always find new employees, not sure it necessarily works the other way around everytime. -
i dont like your logic

Those Russian Billionaires will pay good money for NHLers if they know they are going to stay even when the NHL comes back. Radulov makes 9.2 million a year over there. it will be a bidding war for guys like Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, Malkin, and Datsyuk.

and FTR, the dipietro contract was a steal when they first signed it. didnt turn out too well though
-
no winter classic. would have been so sick to have it in the big house. owners are about to lose all of the players to over seas teams, and the nhl will soon have the quality of product of the mls (if that).
-
Don Cherry said that the season will be lost. I won't miss hockey until NFL is over, then there will be nothing to watch except NBA and Baseball.
-
It must be my fault
Last year of High School, NHL lockout
Last year of University, NHL Lockout -
Yes, the Owners in the KHL play for keeps when it comes to contracts of premiere players. If our guys choose to play overseas, so be it. Enjoy your time across the pond. I'm sure there is talent developing in the AHL/OHL/ECHL, etc that will be happy to play in the NHL.

On a side note, it doesn't hurt my feelings/bother me for a second that they are threatening the cancellation of the WC. Not sure what is taking them so long to cancel the entire season. Oh yeah, money. -
so islanders finally have a future and now hockey may be no more? awesome. the life of an islanders fan....
-
Seriously how does Gary Bettman still have a job? He bitches and moans about owners and the league losing money and 3 work stoppages. They finally get a day which is pretty much hockey's Super Bowl where everyone is talking about the sport and you fuck that up too? Can you imagine the atmosphere of 111000 fans ? You get a network to give you a billion dollars and you fuck that up too? I can't believe there going to cancel another season..
-
It pisses me off so much because the NHL finally got Toronto into one of the outdoor games, i.e. their biggest hockey market, even if the team sucks.

Afink; there has been 4 work stoppages, one of them only last 2 weeks and they didn't miss games. -
Ya I agree afink I cant believe Bettman and the owners would screw up all the progress the league has made plus all the future progress this year. Maybe this time the owners really plan on breaking the players . Theres no doubt the players have to break after a year and a half to two years. I dont see how this can even benefit the owners now unless they completely break the players. I never believed there would be a stoppage this year with how the league was rolling plus I know the players want a deal. I really dont get all the people supporting the owners . I understand the players are doing great and way better than the average joe but does that mean they should let the league take back everything they ever gave them plus the contracts they signed just because their doing good and ofcourse the players are going to lose money over this lock out. Dont you always lose money in a work stoppage that lasts a long time no matter what job it is. When a player holds out on a contract he signed becauses he thinks he worth more now---the fans say you signed it you stick to it. Now the owners want a big chunk back from the contracts they were throwing around right before the lock out and everyone says take the cut players .

I feel bad for some players when it come to their career statistical totals. ie Selanne, and Jagr have been through all 3 of them, thats 36, 82, and maybe another 82 games.
if Jagr had those possible 200 games and stayed in the NHL instead of going to the KHL for 3 years he would have a real shot at getting to 2000 career points. -
I do too obviously, I thought that was implied.
-
Meeting for four straight days. Normally that would be a good sign. But we are talking about Bettman and Fehr. So I expect nothing.. Suppose they get this settled and they say lets start the season Nov 27 or something.. Cancelling the Classic looks pretty stupid. Just like every part of this lockout.
-
bettman+fehr=death of NHL
-
makes me sick as a Blues fan...this would be one of their best years to compete, with all of our "young" guys having a decent amount of experience now.

and now we're going to miss the whole season, shaving a year off of all of their primes.
awesome. -
#1 person to blame is the fucking lawyers for both sides too. Longer they have to work things out the longer they get paid. Every offer the lawyers must be "thats a shitty offer! let me write a equal shitty one to give the illusion I give a fuck if you ever reach a agreement".
2005 lockout was painful cause I was a season ticket holder. It hard for me to say I could care less but damn I'm pretty close to it. -
maybe? just maybe?
5.5 hrs of talks and still going. players sound optimistic.

probably just getting our hopes up again. -
gee no lawyers and they make progress....strange
-
says bettman called for a 1pm press conference tomorrow.
-
haven't seen any breaking major updates on anyone's twitter accounts. i know they left Fehr and Bettman out of the evening portion of the discussions. can't believe it took them that long to figure out how effective that could be.
