ITT we talk hockey and homerism.
Toronto and Boston play only 2 games this week...ironically both games are against each other, Wednesday and Saturday. More fuel for the Kessel/Seguin fire.
2 new coaches:

Solid NHLer Kyle Quincey, Dave Bolland, Dennis Wideman, Sergie Kostitsyn, Same Gagner, Steve Mason, and John Carlsson. And Nazim Kadri. He currently coaches Max Domi who unlike his father can actually score goals and is a projected first round pick in 2013.
Also coached arguable the greatest hockey team assembled at a high level. the lockout-assisted 04-05 team: 79 wins 9 losses 2 ties and 0 OT losses (incl playoffs)
Don't know how much he will like the NHL, he may pull a Brian Kilrea and go back to the OHL after a couple years.
Carolina picking up Kirk Muller, was the leader of the last Canadian NHL team to win a cup, Montreal in 1993, was an assistant coach with Montreal for 5 years and is currently coaching Nashville's AHL team, who have a 10-6-1 record
Interesting games this week:
Obv the debuts of both coaches on Tuesday
December 1st Crosby vs Ovechkin
December 1st Phoenix at Winnipeg
December 3rd Seguin vs Kessel again <--- I know homer pick
December 3rd Battle of Alberta -
lots of people in the comments on the espn article about dale hunter taking over are real haters.
What does OT think of him? -
Don't know much about him as a coach but thought he was a great player even if he was notorious for being dirty. His biggest challenge is gonna be dealing with Ovechkin and Semin but he's the right type of guy and won't put up with their shit imo. Interested to see how he handles it.
What's everyone's thoughts on Pacioretty getting 3 games for his hit on Letang? I think it's too much, but not surprised given the huge inconsistency in this type of stuff. -
465 PIM in that game, new record. Old record was 291 (in 1967). Finnish police are investigating.

slapshot quoted my post talking about him as a coach, London is a perenial powerhouse, they don't rebuild they reload.Originally Posted by Randinho

I think 3 games was alright, maybe a bit long cause he's not known as that much of a dirty player. It's so funny that people complained about Colin Campbell and were so happy to see him go. Now that shanahan is there everything is going to be great. but.. the "pundits" are all just as annoyed as before, they are all such hypocrites. -
i love - or loved, kinda drifting away how much i like ovechkin- but i think they gotta get the C off of him. Give it to laich or someone that brings it every game and can show some leadership and take charge. He just isnt in love with the game right now and it clearly shows.
Also, watching the pre game on VS tn some douchebag analyst was saying how he thought it was boudreaus fault ovi was doing so badly, that coach needed to play him MORE to get him out of his terrible playing. Thats just bullshit IMO, ovi's playing bad because hes playing bad and lacks enthusiasm and is slumping. When you play like that, u cant be expected to play more. The analyst was like get him on the ice in their end and let him figure it out. Thats a great idea, but wait, what happens when you need him to play defense? Oh right, he cant.
/rant -
I agree the C should be moved. Ovie is in a slump and it really is hurting his game. As for the "get him on the ice more" Its not the worst thing. When he is getting the extra 5-6 minutes he is usually getting a favorable D pairing. This is sometimes how to get someone out of a slump. I agree his D is pretty bad tho. Also Semin has a horrible attitude so it will be interesting to see what happens with the new coach. He doesnt seem to try to hard.

Enough of me talking about the Caps since I'm a Pens fan. Looking forward to the game Thursday. -
Hunter has had some offensive guys that dominated the game like OV, Backstrom and Semin can. His theory is to just let them go, take the ice time. If you have 3 100 point guys then let them do it.

And this is enough of me talking about the London Knights.
Go Kitchener -
Ovie isn't losing the C and who would u even give it to?
He got his way and got bb fired and now its time for him.and his lazy Russian buddy #28 to step up and act like they give a.shit.
Loved dale hunter growing up even if he was a goon. Hit on turgeon was obv classless but also Google his cheap shot on gots Murphy...fucking brutal intent to injure. He'd prob be banned forever for that hit in todays nhl.

I don't remember anything about Hunter other than playing Sega hockey back in the day he got in a lot of fights. Impressive career numbers tho over 1000 points.
I'm not really a Caps fan, but I hope he turns them around just for the sake of watching good hockey. And for selfish FH reasons, haha. -
Homer post
Kessel leads all players in votes for the all star gam, although crosby will probably take over soon. And Phaneuf is 2nd among dmen. No getting picked last this year.
/homer post -
Kessel deserves to be there although I'm not sure about #1 pick or captain. Phaneuf on the other hand...
I'm missing those old Flyer jerseys. Their orange ones are just hideous (and that is coming from a Flyer fan). Finally, Hunter should be able to get that team fired up but I hope the Caps end up below Philly at the end of the season. -
I was just looking at the ASG voting. The top 30 forwards I found amusing. Kessel deserves to be #1. Hes tearing it up. Alfredsson, Spezza, M Michalek at 2,3,5 is funny. Phaneuf at 2 seems high but he should be in top10 imo.

I know its fan voting but the list is pretty funny. -
Remember when mike Komisarek was voted to the all star game in Montreal, I don't think he even scored a goal that year? Game is in Ottawa home fans always stuff the ballot box.

Phaneuf
3 goals 15 assists - 18 points in 5th among NHL dmen
9 of those points are on Toronto's 3rd ranked PP in the NHL
plays 25:43 a night - 7th in nhl
starter? no; reserve? yes
Toronto might have 3 all stars for the first time since, Sundin, Cujo, Yushkevich in 2000 (Unless you count the coach, then 2004)
lol announcer bias, wonder what the Caps guys were saying -
Big win by the Blueshirts tonight. Gaborik is so sexy.
-
Coyotes were pretty dominant tonight. Blow the shutout with 30s left....smitty should have 4 now. What a great rebound year for him.
-
Cory Fucking Schneider. 47 saves tonight, 45 last night, 4 GAA in last 5 starts with 2 shutouts and something ridiculous like a .976 SP over that stretch. Canucks are heating up finally and if Schneider keeps playing like this Luongo will become the backup, haha. I love Luongo and have always defended him, but he's having a shit season so far and Schneider is elevating his game bigtime. Will be interesting to see what happens.
-
Rangers and Pens was a solid game. I mean pens down one and take 4 consecutive penalties in the third was so fucking annoying. Sure they killed them but any chance to tie was gone. They played undisciplined hockey which is kind of unusual but shit happens.
Schneider has been a beast. Had Canucks -1.5 tonight which salvaged my shiity night of hockey betting. Smith not getting a shutout was kinda fucked bc I have him on one team and on my other team (7-0) I was playing against him.
Also I really thought the Caps would win tonight. Took them on the ML and also the under. At least I hit one of those. The Blues have been playing some really good hockey since the coaching change. Their D has been great and their goalies have been backing it up.
I was soooooo close to taking the Isles vs Sabres but decided not to for some reason. That was a pretty solid game as well. -
Edited By: Bullets43 Nov 30th, 2011 at 06:57 AMObviously Schneider is getting traded, Canucks management probably face palming on a nightly basis for handing Luongo that contract (still 11 years left!). He's completely unmovable at this point and they won't have the money to pay Schneider who is a RFA after this season.Originally Posted by Randinho

EDIT: Nor do I think it's smart for them to pay him even if they could. He's clearly good enough to start. You've given Luongo the money and he's not going anywhere, get big time value for Schneider via trade and find a decent backup. I can't imagine it turning out any other way. -
We have a decent backup in the system so that's not a problem. I agree that Schneider getting traded is the most likely scenario unfortunately but as you said his value is skyrocketing and would be worth a lot at the deadline as some consolation. There's a slim chance Luongo could waive his no trade and get picked up but I'd be amazed if that happened. If he returns to top form I won't really care either way. Just hope he can get it done in the playoffs for a change if he's our guy but won't hold my breath.
Edited By: Randinho Nov 30th, 2011 at 08:06 AM
Edit: For the record I think it was more of a team collapse than it was an individual collapse on Luongo's part last year but he was clearly not in top form in some of those blowout losses while he was exceptional in a lot the closer games/wins. Consistency is what he needs. Always been his problem. -
O Lord let the Rangers get Bobby Ryan. I love me some Stepan but if you can move him and another piece for Ryan you have to do it IMO.
-
Byfuglien had 12 shots on goal last night. I wonder if that's the most by any player this year in 1 game. Not having much luck finding out so far.
-
Devils -120 a good bet tonight fellas?
-
I like the Devils in that game. They are -110 where I bet
Edited By: 2catch2 Nov 30th, 2011 at 07:59 PM
Also like the Wild (even) over Edmonton -
