To anyone in OT who still thinks I'm smart: summers are the busiest time at work for me, because I am training new staff. I am also overloaded this term, so between work and school I am looking at nearly 80 hours a week. Therefore, instead of enjoying my first Thirties' summer, I am either at work, doing classwork, eating, or sleeping. Because of all my busy time, I am pretty sure my fiancee is having an emotional affair with Diablo III. Smart guy, right here.

I had heard the anecdotes and probably read a summary or 2 but I didn't realize the true effect until I stopped smoking weed. since cutting back to a J 1 or 2 nights a week, nightly I've been bombarded with vivid, intense and extremely aware, almost spiritual dreams.

I've puttered around google a bit but there seems to be very little research in the area. what's been done indicates THC does indeed interfere with REM sleep (the stage of sleep where you dream) and I can say personally the absensce of THC has opened up a deluge of awe-inspiring and often violent experience. in several cases I've been awakened by what is represented as painful physical sensations that manifest as pressure I've "felt" even after regaining consciousness.
in 3-4 years as a daily smoker I rarely dreamed at night and I'd almost forgotten our dreams' ability to refresh and revive the mind. quitting hasn't been necessitated by any real outside force; between my schedule and lots of other reasons I've gradually grown out of the habit. I do still like to smoke once or twice a week, usually at night after my shit's done, and it's now half a joint vs. multiple blunts/day in the past.
pretty often these are dreams where I'm aware of my surroundings and making decisions while planning ahead, all within my dream-world. my head has honestly been clearer since I've cut back so much and I think I like it for now. -
