Had successful double hernia surgery yesterday. Sitting at home taking some pain meds and fantasy betting the horses at Saratoga. Glad I wasn't able to go today, would have lost some cash. My left side was really bad, the surgeon did a great job! I even got pics from him before/after, pretty gross but kinda cool I guess.

Calhoun, 70, was being driven to the UConn health center at about 5:30 Saturday night, a source said. Reports of a broken hip — a career-threatening injury — are unconfirmed.

umm, pretty sure the Perseid meteor shower has been going on for a very long time and always peaks around aug 11-13th or so.

edit: looks like this is the 150 year anniversary of the discovery of comet swift-tuttle, from whose tail the pebbles and dust that create the Perseids emanate, and futhermore, this particular year should be especially active as we orbit thru the 'core' area of that tail
