Interesting...
TITLE EDIT: TROOPS
Reason: fucking spelling -
Initially, I don't think Iraq is ready for this. Ihope they are.
-
My buddy just told me that he is getting deployed to Afghanistan in early 2012.
Bad beat... -
who the fuck cares........hell ya Obama, bout damn time we got the fuck outta there.....wouldn't be surprised to see more of this go on b4 election, esp with even the Republicans talking about scaling down in their debates......its clear Americans want this

The reason for the complete pullout of the troops has very little to do with Obama. It is 95% tied to the fact that the Iraqi Government will not sign the new SOFA. The current SOFA expires on 31 Dec, so we need to be out by then. There is no way for the US military to conduct operations without a SOFA signed by the Iraqi's in place.

bullshit. the iraqi people have been freed and now our mission is accomplished. once we've freed: afghanistan, pakistan, iran, yemen, lybia, iran, north korea, china, cuba and some other people, then we can bring the troops home.
thank you obama! way to earn that nobel prize. -
True. The Obama administration was lobbying the Iraqis to let us stay. Hard to say this is something Obama "accomplished" when it only happens because we are effectively being kicked out.

well you mean the remaining what was it 10% or something ( can't rem, think it was like 3500 troops or something small like that ) that were not going to be drawn back were kicked out.....he already had an extensive drawback plan in place from what I read/understood.

Throughout the discussions, Iraqi leaders have adamantly refused to give U.S. troops immunity from prosecution in Iraqi courts, and the Americans have refused to stay without it. Iraq's leadership has been split on whether it wanted American forces to stay. Some argued the further training and U.S. help was vital, particularly to protect Iraq's airspace and gather security intelligence. But others have deeply opposed any American troop presence, including Shiite militiamen who have threatened attacks on any American forces who remain.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has told U.S. military officials that he does not have the votes in parliament to provide immunity to the American trainers, the U.S. military official said.

I fucking care. I spent a year there. I don't want all the work we did to go to hell in a handbasket when we leave.
-
oh my fault, didn't realize it was personal to you......I understand that.....but in general I stick by "who the fuck cares" in regards to its about time we focus on taking care of ourselves.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I'm sorry but I don't think foreign policy should be decided on the basis of what will make you feel like you accomplished something.
-
Grats obama on getting the troops kicked out of Iraq.
Lol at how he's gonna spin this. Bush/Obama strategy in action stay until we wear out our welcome and get kicked out. -
Bring em home, that war was soooooo ghey.
-
We'll be back within 5 years but let's pretend we won and go home!
-
So?
-
diplomatic failure by obama. let's hope iraq doesn't fall apart and turn into another afghanistan after we left them (in the 80's)
-
Only reason to go back is if they launched an invasion force to conquer the US.
