    quality is in the eyes of the beholder. if im someone who enjoys ultra violence and f bombs I wont get that on basic cable. then apply that to your jordan and lebron, it would be more like i can watch jordan dunk but not james. i do agree in the big picture with you that the wire and bb are def comparable. basic/premium is a legit point though

    its obv walt is going down a michael corleone path and someone is going to die in his family. skylar/jr/baby. its classic shakespeare. good man turns evil all the while hes using an excuse that its to "protect" his family when all it does is cost him his family in the end. hence the focus of the last scene where hes trying to convince skylar that anything is bad hes doing is ok because its for family

    both shows are great but in very different ways. To each there own. You can say the wire has better writing and cast but breaking bad is more rewatchable and is shot(cimetography wise) much deeper(attention to detail).

    and its just dumb comparing two shows which are so very different.

    breaking bad> the wire imo

    breaking bad is not more rewatachable by any stretch. the wire has layers upon layers to peel. ive watched the wire an embarrassingly amount of times and theres always a new detail to pick up. the subplots alone mute your opinion on the rewatchable scale

    i can see someone who enjoys bb over wire but the wire is America.

    There are two things. what is better and what is your favorite.
    in any of the top 4 shows you can say any one for either question and it's fine.

    I cant tell you my favorite. I have an easier time telling you what is better.
    Mad Men is the best television show, but it isnt my favorite.
    The Wire is a better television show than Breaking Bad.

    You can say it's dumb to compare things because that is a pointless exercise. But that is just what people do. It is what we like to do.

    Instead of writing about how great BB has been in the Breaking Bad thread, Everyone just wants to have the same argument again. So I'll partake..again.

    It is not dumb to compare things that are different. The difference is what makes it a real comparison. Nothing is exactly the same. But they are television shows and we are compating television shows.

    Or I can just say Breaking Bad is the best show about Meth and The Wire is the best show about Baltimore street life.

    As long as ppl are arguing whether the goat is the wire or bb, I'm not going to step in. It's clearly one or the other. 1a and 1b depending on personal preference.

    Mad Men, Sopranos, Deadwood, and Oz can sort out 2-5 themselves.

    There is no character driven drama better than The Wire. The show has so many amazing characters you could create a competitive 64 character bracket.
