My sentiment exactly and he couldn't hit the ball tonight so I thought bunting was the right play but maybe not. I assume Bochy knows better than I but it still seemed right to bunt

No, Bochy never bunts with anyone. Even if the pitcher was up there in that spot, theres always the possibility of a slash play. He just has that "big inning" mentality, which is fine most of the time, but tonights situation was such an obv spot to bunt, I thought even he would try and move the runners up. Oh well, it worked, and no one will even remember it tomorrow.

Why wouldn't the whole fucking season come down to Zito? Theyve won 11 in a row with him starting, so anything's possible. Also have a fresh Lincecum to get in there in case Zito can't hack it. Lots of uncertainty surrounding tomorrows starter for the Reds. Latos on short rest, coming off being sick, or Leake taking Cueto's spot? The Ginats offense has to come around one of these games, why not tomorrow. If we somehow get this to game 5, I like our chances with Cain against anybody.

Belt moves very well, and if he can chop a ground ball to the right side, it basically accomplishes the same thing.

He didn't attempt a sac bunt the entire year...there's just a bit of a difference doing it in batting practice every day--as compared with doing it against a Broxton 95 MPH fastball or 88 MPH cutter/slider.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't have been bunting, but I'd assume Bochy and his staff know their players a bit better than anybody on this board. Had he attempted 3 bunts and struck out, you would have been blasting Bochy for not letting him hit a ground ball to the right side...

Also of note...Bochy thought he was going to have Lincecum closing--not Romo. Playing for 1 run with Lincecum coming in wouldn't make me comfortable, either. (That was a joke...don't get bent out of shape like I know you will)

No, I would have been blasting Belt for not getting a fucking bunt down. Even if he had bunted into a dp, under no circumstances would I have been mad at Bochy for the decision to bunt.

ok, the lincecum line gave me a chuckle

  5. Also of note...Sergio Romo looked very comfortable swinging. He took a massive hack at a 95 MPH fastball--and looked very comfortable and athletic doing so.

    It was quite surprising.

Vogelsong sacrificed when the Giants got their first run.
If Belt's bunt attempt looks anything like Hunter Pence's attempt, I am OK with the decision to swing away.
Obvious, main thing is getting runners over.

Lincecum sat on my fantasy bench all year, can't imagine trusting him in a play-off situation right now.
I know he got a bit better as the year went on, but if you don't got it, you don't. See ricky Romero.
Leake -140 in the afternoon tilt vs Zito.

yes Vogelsong bunted earlier in the game, but thats a spot where he likes the fake bunt/swing away ploy. I actually dont think Pence's bunt was called by Bochy, I think that was something he did on his own, then he swung away when he failed miserably. But I dont see what Pence's weak attempt has to do with Belt not bunting, is he automatically going to look like shit bunting just because Pence did? Meh, it doesnt matter now, it was just a situation at the time where the flow of the game led perfectly into a bunt there (1 run was going to win the game). There are just too many unproductive things that can happen when he swings away, worst case if he bunts is he doesnt get it down and has to swing away with 2 strikes.

Like it or not, Lincecum is pitching in this game somewhere, barring Zito going 7+ or something. At this point we have no choice but to trust him.

I remember the first time I got high.

  11. Leake is 1-0, 3.32 in his last three starts, and beat Giants 5-1 with CG effort back on June 29.
Zito is 5-0, 2.35 in his last five starts; he allowed one run in six IP in both his '12 starts vs Cincy, but didn't win either one.

I just hope Mat Latos doesn't see this and strain an oblique muscle from laughing so hard.
  14. apparently you guys dont know how a 5 game series works. If the Giants win today, the series will go to a 5th game, meaning whoever wins that game wins the series. So it would be all over, baby.

  17. going to assume it's a piece of pussy since it's a playoff game. Any bro knows that their taking cab if it conflicts with a big series.

  18. I'll just put the game on the iPad and watch while I drive, by picking them up it guarantees I get free drinks when we stop and watch the rest of it in a bar

Must have more mics down around the field, everything is def much louder than normal.
  22. Got to the bar just in time to see blancos homer, you know the tide has turned when he's going deep. If zito can get thru 4, I'd be happy.
