I would. k/9 has just about decreased in 5 straight seasons, and bb/9 as increased 4 straight. Velocity down quite a bit. Just doesn't bode well for future performance. Hope he does though, love me some Big Time TJ.

He stopped throwing his slider completely this year...it was one of his best out pitches, and from everything I've looked at, he basically took it out of his repertoire. I can only imagine that something is wrong with his shoulder/elbow??

Where do you see that? According to fangraphs, he threw it 17% of the time, highest % in any year.

Great question...I could have sworn it was on Fangraphs, but it was super early in the year. I owned him in a big fantasy league, and wanted to see why he sucked so badly, so I started analyzing the data.

I swear that when I checked, he was at like 2.5% sliders or something...that would be absurd if he threw that many the rest of the year to get to 17%.

Maybe I'm just completely making it up...I would have bet a ton of money it was Lincecum tho. I'll ask LeFlyingRat when I talk to him...he's a huge Lincecum fanboy, and I know I had multiple discussions with him about him not throwing his slider.

Clearly his velocity being down, K% being down, and BB% being up are much bigger factors...I just remember looking at the chart and saying to myself "his shoulder has to be fucked up if he just completely stopped throwing a slider..." Should have also added...his FIP and xFIP still aren't bad, but his trending stats are not a good sign.

His HR/FB% was abnormally high as well, and that should come down (big part of xFIP I believe)...but I'm just not a believer anymore.

They are playing 2 extra games that they shouldn't have had to play and now it's fucking up the rotation for the NLCS if they make it that far. They should have finished this shit off yesterday and been able to chill for a bit.

I would maybe agree they were lucky to win 2 in SF if they didn't beat the shit out of them by a combined 14-2. Game 3 Homer became just the 4 pitcher to allow 1 hit or less and have 10 K's in a postseason game.

Actually Dusty Baker did that by not carrying a 5th starter, which caused the Reds to lose Cueto for the NLCS.
