Early rumors are they're going to pursue Jeff Fisher for the HC job. I could probably get behind a Fisher hire. They need somebody leading the team with a mean streak after "nice guys" Linehan and Spags.

Also have heard rumblings that they'll go after AJ Smith once the Chargers fire him. I'm much less enthused by this rumor. IDK much about NFL FOs though to know who else might be preferable. I just know that with Chargers' fans negative opinions on Smith I don't want him.

New owner Stan Kroenke wants to win badly and is a very shrewd sports owner so I have faith that he'll finally get the team back on track.

    Here's some potential GM candidates.

From that list Dorsey and DeCosta seem most intriguing.

The Bucs debacle to me came out of nowhere, thought they were on the upswing for sure.....whoever they hire is going to have lots of talent to work with

I would agree, but that team 100% quit on him. Can't really keep a guy whose team quits...
  15. Yeah, just really thought going into this year it was gonna work.
  16. promote joshy mcd!
  17. I posted this last night in the Norv thread.

It doesn’t sound like Norv Turner is going to be fired by the Chargers on Black Monday.

“It was really exciting,” Spanos said. “I’m really proud of them. I think it really shows how resilient they are, how hard they play for this coach.”

If nothing else, it sounds like Norv Turner gave his owner something to think about this week.

I wouldn't mind keeping him on as D.C.

    Not head coach tho
  22. if Norv Turner does get fired I wouldn't be surprised if he was the Dallas OC next year, not sure he'd be a Head Coach in the NFL again

  23. While nowhere near the level of magnitude of any impending HC decisions, one of the nicer feel good stories of the year just had a pretty happy ending today when Mike Smith was hired as the new Jets OLB coach. Smith was a former Raven LB whose career ended early due to injury. After coaching high school for a few years, he took a low paying job as an intern for the Jets last year. Smith started working after hours with Aaron Maybin, who credits Smith's diligence with him as the biggest reason for his emergence this year. After an article was posted in the NY Post about Smith and Maybin, he left the Jets and was hired as the LB coach of Washington University. 3 weeks later, the Jets offered him their OLB job which he has accepted. At a time with all this Jets turmoil, this was a very pleasant story to hear about.

  24. i wonder if spags would mind coming in and coaching the giants d for the playoffs lol

lol @ firing raheem being too soon, guy should have never had the job in the first place and been axed like 4 games ago when the team had already quit on him.

Jeff Fisher would be a great hire for the fins, rams, or bucs. Logic says Miami cuz they will offer the most money and have good young talent, but I feel like he might end up in STL.
  25. I heard a radio personality awhile back who talked about the fact that the teams who fired their coaches early had all proceeded to promote black men as their interim coaches. This let them interview those same men for the HC job and fulfill the requirement for minority hires. In essence, it put those teams directly in position to go after the big names out there.
  26. Thank God for Morris being gone. I just can't stand behind a coach, when the entire team quits on him. 10 losses IN A ROW, after 10 wins last year ( I admit, there was some positive variance there last year tho), is just not going to cut the mustard. Can't blame everything on the schedule.

The team lacks discipline, leadership, and direction. The offensive play calling was probably the most boring of any team in the NFL this year. The defense...well, need I say more?

I think the GM, Dom, needs to hit the road as well. If anything Morris was saying about Dom being in his ear the whole game, trying to dictate the game and basically not letting him coach the team, is correct, then it will be extremely hard to find a coach willing to put up with that shit.

Claiborne, the LSU CB, would be a nice start if we can get him. Thanks.
  27. holy shit

    colts fire the polians

Pukeeeeeee, Bradford wants to keep him around though at OC. Can't help but think some continuity may be good for the guy.

saw this on twitter... Pretty sure they are going to GG peyton too while they're at it.
  30. As his first move as the Rams HC Josh Mcdaniels alienates Brandon Lloyd and trades Steven Jackson for a "young" CB and 5th round draft pick.
