Lol at all the new hockey fans in this thread. Someone go
YouTube some old school hextall vids. I love a chippy goalie. -
In before Ranger fans finding any excuse for not blaming Lundqvist for anything.
-
Fine he had a bad game. Hes allowed a bad one or two for carrying this sorry ass excuse of a hockey team to within 2 games of the Stanley Cup Finals. Of all the guys on the team I know in Game 6 he will come up with a great game and he will not give up more than 2 goals.. I have zero faith in anyone else on the team to do the same. There is no Messier on this team to guarantee them victory and deliver like in 94. There is no talent like Alex Kovalev riding along side Mess to deliver a game 6 win in NJ.. We have Brad Richards whose best scoring chance this series was on his own goalie. We have Marian Gaborik. Whose only point this series was handed to him on a silver platter by Brodeur.. So I have bank on is Henrik Lundqvist. And Ill have to take my shot with him. Because no one else on this team outside Cally I have any faith in..
-
I agree - I liked the Devils to win the series, just because they were playing their best hockey of the season, but in reality they are not a great team, and if a couple of guys stepped up, or even just retained their regular season level, they could easily have been looking at a finals appearance.
This is going to sound stupid due to how many years it's been since he played in NY, but I'm dead serious about this; the guy they never replaced is Sergei Zubov. -
Well they have never had a good offensive Defenseman since Leetch retired or Zubov left. So your right there. And it shows especially on the PP..They have three D Men who are pretty much Shut Down guys..(Staal,Girardi,McDonogh) MDZ is at best a number 2 and thats really a stretch. They made a huge mistake in signing Wade Redden. If your gonna spend that kind of money give it to a true Offensive D-Man like Brian Campbell. I know he sucked in Chicago but look at the difference he made in Florida. Meh Whatever. They are what they are. Good Defensive subpar Offensive team.
-
The Rangers also haven't been the same since The Chief who used to call Steve Somers passed on.
-
Devils are playing better and deserve to win the series, but I still have a feeling this is gonna be '94 all over again. Still can't decide who I'd rather play. The Kings forecheck and pressure would prob. destroy the Rangers but Henrik would still God-mode and steal at least a couple games + don't really want to play at the Garden where strange shit always seems to happen regardless of the sport. OTOH the Devils forecheck would give the Kings some problems, and if good Marty shows up, it will be a hell of a series. Either way, glad we can sit around and wait, but am waiting for one hell of a series whoever we get.
-
phewwwwwwwwwwwww
best part of this thread is a blues mention in a conference finals thread -
Fink this is the team they have been all year, save for Gaborik why are you still complaining about it?

And a finesse sniper who disappears when the checking gets tighter isnt exactly unheard of.
Young overachieving team with arguably the best defensive core in the NHL with arguably the best goalie in the NHL that usually plays out of its mind. Still a great chance to win the Cup this year and for the foreseeable future. The doom and gloom is lolworthy. -

OH
Somewhere between my doom and gloom and your praising this unit is probably the truth.. Best Defensive core? LOL What are you kidding me? As hard as they play you need some assemblance of offensive talent to win the Cup. They dont have it.They havent had it since the 1st year after the lockout and they havent developed a legit offensive player in their system in 18 years. This is their best chance to win a cup right now and although they could beat NJ they wont beat LA. When you reach this point you have to have grit and talent to win. The Devils big players are getting it done. Kovalchuk is a finesse sniper and the checking is tighter. Why is he able to make a difference in the games? Parise? he brought it tonight and last game. Where is fucking Brad Richards? I guess im watching a different team than you. Maybe your right. Maybe they are a great young team and a bright future.. But if my bright future is Stepan/Dubinsky/Anismov/Hagelin then forgive me if Im not too excited about my future.
"Rangers in 7" Steve Somers -
Kovy is a finesse sniper? He is 6 ft 3 240 and doesnt play finesse.
And yes, with this unit,Hank, Sauer and the kids in the minors they arguably have the best defensive core moving forward in the NHL -
Doris from Rego Park caughs in agreement
-
Kings have always been my #2 fav team fwiw, and I stated that a long time ago.
-
Wrong. McD and DZ are gonna be a top 10 defensemen in the league within the next couple of years.

I was feeling something epic last might and it all came crashing down. Need cally or Richards to guarantee a win a la messier. Please play like last night where, except for the first few minutes, we outplayed them.
And the rangers do have the best young defensive core. Staal, MDZ, McD, Sauer, McIleatg, Erixon... And girardi is 28. -
Not one of those guys is a number 1. Need a number 1 badly.. There is no Drew Doughty/Shea Weber type in that mix.
-
Dude, McD is 22 and a projected upper tier #1
Edited By: Pker4Dummies May 24th, 2012 at 03:42 PM
Girardi is a #1 right now. Staal is also #1 caliber when he is fully back (showed in playoffs he is pretty much there)
Danny G and McD are without a doubt top 3 shutdown defensive pairing in the NHL right now. Arguably top 2.
Doughty did not have a great year give me a break.
He had 36 points and a minus 2 for 6 million
McD had 32 points and a plus 25
Girardi had 29 points and plus 13
Combined they had less Penalty minutes than Doughty, and are both obviously vastly superior defensive players.
Del Zotto had more points than Doughty and was a plus 20.
McD and Girardi each blocked more than twice as many shots as Doughty and Del Z blocked 25 or so more.
McD threw about same hits as Doughty and the other two threw way more hits than Doughty.
The three of them combined make a million and a half less than Doughty.
Can I stop now? -
Afink would be the worst person ever to watch a game with if you share favorite teams. Youre a missrable fan. My goodness man, I don't even want to imagine how you sound when your team isn't the top seed in your conference and in the conference finals. Ridiculous. I hope the devils close this out so we can stop reading this shit. I'd rather have non stop posts from chance and tmlms about the 2 powerhouses they follow. Try to enjoy it sometime fink, it's a pretty fun game.
-
What dont you understand about a number 1 Defenseman? Girardi is not a number 1 jesus.. Staal is not a number 1. McDonagh is not a number 1. Do you even watch any fucking hockey at all besides the Rangers? I notice you didnt quote Shea Weber's stats. Or Nicklas Lidstrom. Or Erik Karlsson.. Do you even watch them play on the other side of the ice besides Defense? Yes they play great Defense.. They dont play good offense. They are not good passers. They are not good shooters. Ask the coach when he said about MDZ "He does shoot wide alot" Yes they are a good shutdown pair.. They are not a good offensive pair which is what we need badly. I notice you didnt mention Doughty's 59 Point year two years ago with 9PPG 22PPA and +20. Any Ranger D Man have that in him?

And to SirLiesAlot im not a miserable fan. Im a realist and unbiased. If I think my team is good ill say so and if I think my team isnt good I will say so. I guess you want your fans to be like my friend from TomsRiver here who thinks its all the refs fault when they lose and that every guy on the team is the 2nd coming of Paul Coffey..
And lets stop the arguing.. It does no good. You wont change my mind I wont change your mind. Lets enjoy the rest of the series.
Oh
Rangers in 7.... -
Doughty sucked dick this year , ask any Kings fan, who gives a fuck about 2 years ago? Weber made 7.5 million (Same as Gomez) this year. Is that what you want? The future is bright on this team because we have been taking on less humangas big contracts.
Edited By: Pker4Dummies May 24th, 2012 at 10:22 PM
Lidstrom had 34 points and 40 hits this year, what are you even trying to say?
Discussing a bad call is does not equate blaming the refs when we lose, especially when the reffing this year has been widely talked about as being the most inconsistent in recent memory.
If you dont think the Rangers have a #1 defenseman there really is no point in discussing hockey matters with you anymore. It is hopeless.
Go Rangers. -
Yes because when teams lose its either the end of the world or the refs fault. I just think you have a hell of a lot more to be happy about as opposed to the sky is falling mentality you have. If someone told you in preseason your rangers would have the top seed in the east, be in the conference finals and be down 3-2 still with a chance at the cup would you have been happy? You only focus on the nagative and seemingly feel like you're owed more from this team. It's painful to read. Smile, be happy and enjoy watching your team because they overachieved this year.
ps - if staal isn't a #1 or on that trajectory to you then I think you may be crazy. You don't have to score a ton of points from the blue line to be a #1. There really aren't that many of those guys around. Maybe 10? -
Staal doesn't even play on the PP first or 2nd Unit. Anton frickin Stralman " the sausage king of Chicago" plays more on PP than Staal or McD. Maybe I'm wording it wrong. What they lack and have lacked since Leetch left is a D man who runs a PP. I think that's what I'm trying to say. I guess I'm more of an Offensive type than a Defense type which is why I get frustrated with this at time.

Edited By: CANUKEH44 May 25th, 2012 at 05:57 PMI think it was on this thread before this series started I said. Devils would win this series. Their forecheck is boring but FUCKING AWESOME.Originally Posted by Pker4Dummies

Then someone said If Martin keeps flopping the Rangers will fill the net. Maybe filling their pants with steamy ones LOL
This series should be finished tonight.
Hard to BUY a Stanley Cup Championship nowadays.
Kings should be able to beat Jersey. All they will need is 2 or 3 goals a game as Quick is Da Man.
