some action today.
Bouweester signs with Calgary for 5yr/33mill

NYR trades Scott Gomez, Tom Pyatt and Mike Busto to MTL for Chris Higgens, Doug Janik, Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283329
And the biggest news Ottawa and Edmonton have agreed to a deal that sends Dany Heatley to Edm for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid. This is pending Heatley waives his no-trade contract.

*Devils resign Johnny Oduya*
gg east -
Hossa turned down a 10 year deal from detroit...interesting to see how that all works out apparently is was in the neighborhood of 3.75 - 4 mil per. after signing a 1 year 7.5mil last year to chase the cup he is obv. lookin for more money up front...
according to Wild beat writer the Koivu brothers may be reunited this season as the Wild are looking into signing Saku which I hope is not the only "big splash" promised by the new regime, I think Saku would be a great addition but he is up there in age and is a pass first type of guy...with Gaborik all but gone we NEED a goal scorer maybe Camalleri or even Havlat hopefully he can stay healthy -
Evne with Gaborik the Wild needed goal scorers. The guy has glass ankles, but Vancouver will likely sign the injury prone player.

everyone keeps saying Sedins and Komisarik to Toronto

here is a pretty cool sortable free agent tracker for those interested -
Pretty sure he'd waive it. Why ask for a trade anyway.
-
they are giving Heatley the Chris Pronger treatment, ship him to a small market where it is really cold, o/u on him wanting to leave there at 1.5 years
-
Eklund actually had the balls to acutally post how ATL might be interested in Heatley. While I know the hockey world already thinks this guy is a nut job, this sealed the deal for me, how fucking stupid could you be to actually say this? I hope Heatley does well in EDM, I have a good feeling he will continue to pwn.
-
lol relax a little
-
cant wait to see what moves the Sharks make
-
Wow Jay Bo signed for a little over 6 mil for 5 years? How did Calgary pull that off?! Awesome signing by the Flames. He would've gotten at least 7 mil in open market. The Gomez trade was a head scratcher for me in Montreal's part. I dunno wtf they're thinking. The EDM-OTW trade wow. I think Ottawa did alright given the circumstances.

Devils resigned Oduya - good
Devils qualified Zajac, but they need to give the kid a raise, so we may see a new contract coming out of that.
Devils have some cap room available, but all indications are Lou is prepared to lay low and keep himself in play for NEXT year when the cap has the potential to be significantly lower.
I feel somewhat vindicated that Gomez is going to Montreal. Although this just gives the Rangers more room to sign a player that has consistently been a larger producer of goals and points than Gomez. -
Heatley might be in a smaller market but he's now in his home province.
Ask Ryan Smyth or Jerome Iginla how much they wanted to leave their "small market teams"...big difference in a guy like Hossa or Jagr going to Edmonton over a guy from the place. -
amen.

If Calgary can stay healthy next year, they are gonna be soooo sick. Iginla, Jokinen, Cammalleri, Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Kipper in nets, and Sutter behind the bench. Can't wait till October
-
lol good thing the team Canada camp is in Calgary this summer, a lot of guys aren't going to have to travel far now:
