He always struck me as a guy who wouldn't be comfortable playing in NYC.

I think I would draft the entire Giants rotation in fantasy next year if they sign Bourn. With him manning CF in cavernous San Fran, they will be hard to score on.

how much do you think Bourn can get? I wonder if Boston goes after him and then trades Ellsbury because they know they have 0% chance of keeping him.

Good god please no. Only if you get him at an absolute bargain on a short-term deail because of the sideshow.

  8. BJ Upton is Carl Crawford in waiting.

Dodgers, maybe? Or have I missed something saying they won't be interested? Not sure if they want to add another big salary, but seems like it would make sense for a team just loading up on big names, assuming he's ok with not playing in center.

BJ Upton was never as good as Carl Crawford, outside of 1 year, really. You would think a player would progress from their first full-time year so when they're supposed to be in their prime, and not drop nearly 100 points in OBP.

I'd love Bourn, but I doubt he's willing to play in the corner, and I doubt the Yankees would move Granderson to the corner (as much as they should). Gardner-Bourn-Granderson would be pretty sweet, though.

Move Granderson to the corner since he's only there one more year anyway. Doubt they resign him when they're trying to keep payroll below $175 million, and A-Rod/Tex/Jeter/CC already make $174 million and they need to bring Cano back.

30+25+(Between 8 and 18)+25=174? Rough estimes in 2014 salary (Jeter has $8mm team option), but that's I don't see how you got that $174 number. And that number they want to be under is $189mm.

Regarding Granderson, I think it'll come down to resigning Swisher this offseason, or Granderson next offseason. I expect they'll go with Granderson. Not so sure it's the right move, though. And Cano is an obvious resign.

  14. I think Swish is a better re-sign than Grandy for a number of reasons.

Agreed. Health, fielding (at least at their respective positions), consistency, and should come considerably cheaper.

  16. yeah i don't want to lose swisher. Let grandy walk, move gradner to center and throw a bunch of money at someone beastly.

Why go after Bourn when you can get Pagan for like $50 mil less? Or, are we rolling under the assumption that the Giants will resign him?
  18. i feel like upton has potential to be like the anti-carl crawford. I could see him getting the money and going into full on beastmode. I think he could come into new york and be all like yea, i'm just going to beast dudes now. I am bj upton and just shit on ppl's face with all his 5 tool talent and shit. PPl can thrive in new york. Kind of the opposite of boston where ppl go and are getting booed by their 5th game if they aren't hitting.

I could see upton puttin up numerous 250/340/500 or even better, years with like 25-30 jacks and steals as a yankee. It's not like he'd have a lot of pressure being in lineup filled with studs. The more i think about it, the more I start talking myself into it. Plus its not like upton has the track record to command 140m dollar deal. I'd go like 5/60m on him tho and think he's worth it. He's still relatively young.

on the other hand ii could see him coming in and sucking ballsack.

They need to lock up posey long term before they do anything. Huff, Rowand (lol), Freddy Sanchez come off the books this offseason, so they have money, and zito's gone the year after. I would imagine they try and resign Scutaro early also. Just depends how much cash they have left over. Personally, I would rather have bourn than pagan, as imo pagan is unlikely to reproduce his numbers from this year.
  20. I think Upton gets way more than 5/60. His contract will be predicated alot on what Bourn gets. If Bourn gets 75+, I think Upton is going to get a monster deal.

I like Bourn more than Pagan as well, but if I'm saving 50 mil plus, that's tough to walk away from. Especially knowing that Posey is going to require an insane amount of money. You also have Lincecum floating out there as well, if you think he can rebound, his value will never be lower than it is right now. If you think he's cooked you let him walk obvoiusly.

Is signing both out of the question? SF still needs a 3rd OF. Move Pagan over to LF? He was never the bet CF to begin with. Agree that SF needs to lock up Posey before they do anything, then try and sign Scutaro too. Only sign Pagan if he comes at a good price. I don't think he can repeat the year he just had. With Zito coming off the books the year after next, and Rowand, Huff, and Sanchez this year, SF has some money to spend. Signing Bourne, Posey, Scutaro, and Pagan doesn't seem too far fetched.

Forgot about Lincecum, but SF was excited when he pitched to a 3.83 ERA after the All-Star break. I doubt SF throws him 20mill a year after what he did this year.

Yeah I think he ends up with just about what Bourn gets, maybe a little less. I'd expect 4 years, in the 55-60mm range. I can only see him topping $15mm per if he signs short term at 2 or 3 years.

Yeah, I guess way more is relative. I just think some team will fall in love with his massive skillset and lose their minds ala Jayson Werth in Washington.
  26. i gotta say I liked the idea of the 1 game playoff in theory, but watching it play out really is bullshit. A team finishes like 10 games behind the other team and then beats them once and is in the playoffs. Makes no fucking sense.
  27. at the same time, i love the incentive it puts on winning the division. 3 game series would probably be a good compromise.

Said that before the season, most disagreed. Think it is retarded
  29. I'm just gonna come out and say what we're all thinking; Texas is probably up like 5-1 right now if Mike Trout is in their lineup.
