  1. As always rankings are done by Bob Futon, JRoth, Marinersheep, Randers, and myself. Here's a link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0

    Commentary by Bob Futon:

You may have to change the Bears commentary based on where everyone ends up.

Hard to get excited for a Power Ranking Column after last night’s Monday Night Football game:

    1. Packers (PR: 1)- The best chance that someone other than the Packers winning the NFC this season? Aaron Rodgers continuing to scramble when he should throw the ball away.

    2. Patriots (PR: 2)- So about the Ravens being the best team in the AFC……

    3. Saints (PR: 4) - Sean Payton- All Madden. Jim Caldwell- Atari Football

    4. Steelers (PR: 8) - Impressive road win during a trap game in Arizona. The big question is whether they can finally beat New England with Tom Brady (they’ve only done it once.) The loss of Aaron Smith looms large. Ziggy Hood is an adequate replacement but guys like Smith can be the difference versus elite teams like the Patriots.

    5. Ravens (PR: 3)- Look I could understand what trap game but between last night and Tennessee, I have a real hard time believing that even with this defense we can take the Ravens as Super Bowl contenders seriously. Joe Flacco is one more bad performance to moving into Cutler territory in this column.

    6. 49ers (PR: 5) - Hard to believe Alex Smith is this high in the rankings but we just let Joe Flacco be there for 6 weeks and he’s a poor man’s Trent Dilfer at best.

    7. Cowboys (PR: 10)- Bad News? Having to listen to Cowboy homers proclaim DeMarco Murray as the new anointed one. Good News? No longer have to hear claims about Felix Jones being the chosen one.

    8. Texans(PR: 12)- One of the more impressive wins of the Kubiak effort. Sure it was a mediocre Titans team but this isn’t the first time the Texans have flat out dominated the line of scrimmage in a game this season, something we have rarely seen in prior years before Wade Phillips.

    9. Lions(PR: 6)- Unfortunately for the Lions it seems like they quickly read their own press clippings and the last two weeks have shown it. A must win game for them in Mile High going into the bye. Sadly for the Lions we already know that God hates Detroit and his son is starting at QB for the Broncos, so I think you gotta pick Denver in this one.

    10. Giants(PR: 11)- Since Giants fans are ubersensitive, I decided to give a week off on commentary for them.

    11. Bills(PR: 9) - Trap game alert this weekend with Washington coming to town and the Bills hosting the Jets the following weekend. Hopefully for Bills fan, they bye assures them that they care of business.

    12. Jets(PR: 15)- Over the last 3 years has any team won more games that they should have lost than the Jets? And then conversely, has any team lost more games they should have won than the Chargers?

    13. Chargers(PR: 7)- I would like to take back my proclamation that Phillip Rivers would be MVP this season. He looks awful, and I’m beginning to the think there is a health issue there we don’t know about.

    14. Bears(PR: 16) - Quite frankly I think 10-15 are pretty interchangeable at this point and I just ranked the Bears last in this group because I enjoy the sound of “rabble, rabble, rabble”

    15. Falcons (PR: 19)- Kudos to the win but demerits for calling out Suh after the game. Settle it on the field you Charlie Villenueva wannabes.

    16. Eagles (PR: 18) - The bye week should give the Eagles some time to regroup. Last I looked they still had an offensive line coach running their defense.

    17. Titans (PR: 14)- The dream is over Chris Johnson owners.

    18. Raiders(PR: 13) - Gotta hand it to Carson Palmer and his ability to mentor another QB. Kyle Boller goes in and sucks and Carson comes in and show Boller how to suck on a whole new level. In fairness to Palmer, we probably should give him more than 3 days with the playbook.

    19. Bengals(PR: 20) - All it took was the other GM dying for Mike Brown to get the best of someone.

    20. Bucs (PR: 17)- Josh Freeman would like to thank Joe Flacco for taking some heat of him in that “which young QB looks like he is regressing the most this season”

    21. Panthers(PR: 22) - Probably too low at this point with the way Cam Newton is playing. Every time it looks like you can hand over the keys to Jonathan Stewart for the full time running back job (and fantasy stud status) he has a backbreaking fumble.

    22. Chiefs(PR: 25) - Have to congratulate the Chiefs on grinding out 3 wins in a row after it looked like they could be in the Luck Sweepstakes. Now they have a 3 game stretch at home with San Diego, Miami and Denver. If the Chiefs somehow beat the Chargers at Arrowhead, they could control their destiny in the AFC West. Only in the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

    23. Redskins(PR: 21) - The loss of Santana Moss upgrades Jabar Gaffney to legitimate fantasy sleeper for bye weeks to fill that 3rd receiver slot.

    24. Browns(PR: 23)- I’ve watched CSPAN Budget Congressional Hearings more interesting than the Seahawks-Browns game this past week.

    25. Jaguars(PR: 29) - Can someone do the math on whether or not Josh Scobee kicking that field goal in the last 2 minutes was the correct play or not? Obviously the result worked out but I’m curious when you factor in what the % of the kick is, the difference in field position, etc, etc where we end up on this.

    26. Vikings(PR: 28) - Was way more impressed with Christian Ponder this past weekend than I thought I would be. Maybe the Vikings aren’t as screwed long term as I thought they’d be. Seahawks- “Really missed Tavaris Jackson” were not words I ever expected to write in this column.

    27. Seahawks(PR: 24) - “Really missed Tavaris Jackson” were not words I ever expected to write in this column

    28. Cardinals(PR: 26) - When the play by play announcers are talking about one of your challenges being “how much film you need to watch” you probably don’t feel too good about your starting QB.

    29. Broncos(PR: 27) - The new Brett Favre in terms of media saturation everybody.

    30. Rams(PR: 32) - What’s the ceiling for Arian Foster versus these guys in two weeks? 300 yards rushing?

    31. Dolphins(PR: 32)- Stephen Ross is playing Chess while everyone else is playing checkers in Suck for Luck. Florida National Championship Day when Tebow is there? Brilliant.

    32. Colts(PR: 31) - I still think the Dolphins suck more.

  2. oh dolphins, it's so true.
  3. @#25 you also have to factor in that it's Josh Scobee
  4. I think a lot of 'trap game' analysis in NFL football is simply not calling a spade a spade. Most, if not 100% of the time, the team's playing like shit had absolutely nothing to do with who was coming up on their schedule.
  5. ok FWK I see u... #25 lookin better but still underrated IMO

Got Clint Session back (hugely noticeable last night verse Ravens) and Aaron Kampman. We should have beaten Cincy and Carolina had them outplayed and ahead until last few minutes of each. Gabbert is our only downfall if he could step up in the pocket and not take sacks we would be 10x better. Expect a push here in the next few weeks.

Also, don't agree w Raiders and 49ers but everything else looks sweet 2 me
  6. Looks pretty good this week tbh.

Maybe Cowboys a lil too high , but after that showing in New England, and the upcoming easy schedule it's not that big a deal.

They might be a little high, but in my (extremely biased) opinion, it is starting to look like they are really close to putting it all together if they can keep their DBs on the field.

And I don't think anyone has gone overboard acting like DeMarco Murray is in the AP/Arian tier; he has shown flashes of promise tho, and if he can prove healthy, and is able to pick up his blocking assignments, he will be a marked improvement over what has been there the last couple of years.

This weekend's loss at the eagles should be crushing to you.

  11. Dallas at 7? seems a little high for a 3-3 team, then again im a cowboy hater :)

Win for falcons in 2 weeks vs colts and then a home win vs new orleans shud get us back in the top 10!

  15. I cannot wait for Sunday night. I think Im gonna go over to the stadium at about 10 AM for a day of drinking/watching the day games on (its built into the outside wall of the RV) teh RV I tailgate at. If the eagles lose this game the season is over, and I have no hope for them going forward. If they used the bye week well (which they almost certainly did since AR is 12-0 coming out of a bye) then I ahve a lot of faith in this team to put it together...Should be fun.

    Go BIRDS

DK please just quit ranking you just continue to look like a fucking idiot all year

Gmen @ 7 eagles at 9 but Dallas at 18 Lo fucking L
  19. Does Donkey Kong jack this thread every week with his rankings?
  20. Rams don't play Texans, Futon.

    Donkey Kong--epic failure.

Texans will be in top 3 at the end of the season...look at remaining schedule.

It would be disappointing, but I'm expecting the Eagles to play a really good game. With how badly the Eagles need a win here, coupled with the fact that Dallas looks like they might be hitting their stride should make for a can't-miss game. Definitely not ready to shovel dirt on the Eagles quite yet. I won't be at all surprised with either team winning; the only thing that would surprise me would be a one sided game.

And as Res pointed out, the immediate schedule for Dallas plays well.

Before dropping the Raiders back to the bottom of the rankings let's see how they do without McFadden out of the game and Carson playing a half down 21-0 after three days of the practice.

lol for some reason I find this to be hilarious.

And whoever was crying about the cowboys being ranked so high cuz they are 3-3, pretty sure at least 2, if not all 3 of their losses were from last second field goals.

  25. Dallas at 7?

Oh well in that case, the eagles held leads in the 4th quarter in 3 out of 4 games they lossed, including two double digit leads. So they should be lik 10th???

  28. I never promote the Bears but with their offensive line actually blocking they are a top 10 team. Looking forward to their rematch with the Lions.
  29. rankings are pretty spot on - when i see the cowboys at 7 i immediately think they are too high but i cant make a case for anyone ranked immediately behind them.

This Sunday night game is going to be fucking HUGE. I can't wait. gonna be tailgating all day then occupying 116.
