  1. This has to be a repost but maybe not. I was looking for Coleman cuz he is fighting Brock lesnar in near future and found this. They are saying that he was paid 50k to throw this fight in the second round. If you listen to the announcers, it starts to point into that direction. I watched it and think he probably did throw this fight. So if you have knowledge of this or remember this happenning, what was the outcome? Did they prove he was paid? If this is true, how can you respect Mark Coleman ever again? I just couldnt believe it until i watched it and now i am like wtf. Check it out.

  2. Wasnt into MMA back then, but this is sfobv that something ain't right. He had ample opprotunity to kick the shit out of him and just gave up the fight.
  3. I have seen this fight. I DO NOT belive he actually threw the fight. He was pretty damn well winded. The ankle lock is a bitch and can make any person tap the fuck out. I have heard the rumors bout the 50k but I am still not sold on him taking it.
  4. Honestly it just looks ot me like Coleman wasn't a very smart fighter. He seemed like he felt so good about his strength advantage that he was't trying to get the victory any way he could he was looking for the easy way. If the fight was being thrown I don't think they would take any risk of Coleman winning, and I saw two slams and a punch that could have easily knocked out Takada, so I don't know about it being rigged.
  5. he threw it.

  6. on another note UFC75 was fkn rigged. edit: the hamil/bisping fight.
  7. i will probably think it wasnt rigged cuz i respect the chazman but i have seen alot of fights of coleman and he really didnt look gassed here at all. He didnt. The slams werent close to stopping the fight or even had a chance to knock out the guy. The punches or that punch wasnt even close to saying that is why it wasnt rigged. But...you can listen to the announcers and you can look at the neck crank that he just let go and you can look at the headlock he usually cranks the shit out of but didnt.
In addition, you can see when the guys feet were on him he usually swipes them away and pounces. Especially all of the punches he didnt put alot behind either in the first round. And the way his leg seemed to be like hurry up and take it already.

Now i know Coleman was very depressed around this time and he looks like a depressed fighter so that might have been why it looked the way it did. Since i havent heard anything about this and there wasnt a big huge deal about it, i can assume it wasnt rigged. But man, it sure did look like it was thoe.

The keylock at the end of the first round could have ended the fight but that wasnt enough to make me think it wasnt rigged or was legit. Coleman should have walked thru this guy and didnt. Looked fake....

also in the 2nd round when he goes into the guard

  8. wow that did look thrown
  9. I seen this fight back in the day and can remember the rumors concerning this particular bout. You have to understand that back in the early days of Pride, some of the Japanese competitors were huge wrestling stars (as in fake tv wrestling). The fans did not like to see their favorite competitors lose. There were rumors that in the first few Pride events, most of the fights were real, but that a small handful were not.

I do not remember if any of these allegations were ever proven, but imo if I had to point to one fight that was rigged, it would have been this fight. Coleman was a big name back then, known for his ground and pound. And the Japanese fans would of loved to see a good comeback from Takada (who was extremely popular in Japan). I've seen Takada's other fights and do not believe he has what it takes to defeat Coleman. With that said, I do not take anything away from Coleman if that is indeed what happened. You have to understand that this was in another country, and this sort of blending of wrestling stars, mma fighters, and Pride was kinda new at the time. Plus there was prolly a precedent for it being done already in Pride.

On a side note, Sakuraba (maybe the biggest former fake wrestler turned mma fighter) coming out of Japan was known as the "Gracie Killer," since he defeated several of them. If I remember correctly there was a rumor at the time that they wanted a thrown fight between Sakuraba and Rickson Gracie (who was reported to be the best fighter in the Gracie family), but that Rickson Gracie declined to fight in a fixed fight. This would have been the biggest fight in the MMA world at the time, with both fighters in their prime. Unfortunately, a "real" fight between them never happened.
  10. good stuff darth. Ya even if it was rigged, i still respect the hammer...dammit if he did do it thoe. Ya sakuraba was prob the best of the "wrestlers"
