  5. This is bullshit. RLM showed Nigeria was the smart play
  6. Did Melo really only play 14 minutes to put up his 37 points on 10-12 from 3

Pretty sure you could just take 100 million of them and train them in some medal sports, and the medical and engineering fields will survive.

True, but the overseas call centers might suffer then.

Who do you think sponsors the athletes? Dell could run a UPS-like campaign about employing Indian Olympians:

"Call Dell Tech Support, and you might talk to a Gold Medalist!"

true, would suck not to have tech support on my pc during the olympics
  15. If bargaining was an olympic sport they'd win gold every time.
  16. such bullshit if UK doesnt lose their medal. FTR, 4 teams of badminton got disqualified for cheating and for me this is exactly the same thing

The British cycling team's opening-night Olympic gold medal is under the spotlight, after one of its riders admitted to deliberately crashing to force a restart.
Philip Hindes crashed early in the qualifying round of the men's team sprint against Germany, with competition rules allowing for a restart of the race.
German-born Hindes told reporters after the race he had crashed deliberately because Great Britain had got away to a poor start.
He said the strategy had been discussed prior to the race.
First man Hindes seemed to have trouble with his front wheel and crashed after a quarter of a lap in the race against Germany.
After Britain were allowed to restart, Hindes made a cannonball opening to perfectly launch his team.
Britain then went on to win the heat and retain the men's track cycling team sprint title, beating France in the final.
"We were saying if we have a bad start we need to crash to get a restart," Hindes was quoted as saying by British newspapers on Thursday.
"I just crashed. I did it on purpose to get a restart ... it was all planned really."
However, speaking after the team went on to win the gold medal, Hindes seemed to correct himself, saying he merely lost control of his bike and crashed.
Hindes, 19, switched his allegiance from Germany to Britain two years ago.
British Cycling team officials blamed the controversy on his lack of fluency in English, saying it was "lost in translation".
The International Cycling Union confirmed the result was not in question, but the incident follows closely on the heels of the women's badminton doubles scandal that erupted earlier this week.
Eight players - four from South Korea and two from China and Indonesia - were expelled from the Olympics for throwing matches in a bid to secure more favourable draws in the knockout stages later in the tournament.
  17. loooool why would you admit to that?

You're not going to get the gold. Forget about it
  19. it's more a matter of the spirit of the olympics here.To fake a fall to restart the race is blatant cheating. And just for saying it, this racer should be shot for stupidity
  20. Why did Lochte's dad have on a tie like he was showing up to the meet after a busy day of work?
  21. I think people hear certain key words or phrases like throwing matches and they connect that with things like the black sox scandal which IMO isn't really that fair. Do I 100% agree with what they did? No. But Its not like they were throwing games cause they were putting money on the other team. Their ultimate goal is to win the gold medal. That's what they were there for and what every athlete should be there for. That never changed. There wasnt money involved. This happens all the time in sports. In soccer two teams will need a 0-0 tie to both advance and they almost always do. Do we call that match fixing? It really is if you want to break it down. Are NFL teams screwing with the integrity of the game when they pull starters in week 17 so they can save them for the playoffs and pretty much give the other team the game? I think people are making too big of a deal about what these women did cause they make this connection with match fixing and money. They make this almost subconscious (I hate that term). connection with like mobsters and sports betting and it's just kind of thrown together when in reality they're two very different things.

  23. Starting to think Roger Federer isn't real
  24. yeah, that badminton thing compares somewhat to pool play in football when a draw is good for both teams to advance and they play passively for the draw. obviously not the same thing exactly but it's clearly an acceptable strategy for some sports but not for others.

it's pretty shitty for the badminton teams though, they shoulda come up with a different solution. this has happened in the past and no one was DQed, I doubt those teams thought there was any chance of being DQed or they play for real. or less obviously throw important points.

tired of hearing phelps is the "greatest Olympic champion ever" simply 'cause he won the most medals. not his fault but it sucks.

  28. he won
  29. ok so the indoor cycling shit...i dont get why the guy in front dips out to the side and then goes in the back of the line every lap

i only watched 2 teams do it and didn't catch the start of it all so maybe they explained it, but i really couldn't figure it out.

is it because the guy in front works the hardest so it gives them a break or what? seems to make the most sense to just have your best guy in front the whole time, that dippin off and going in back takes more time, but idk
