No disrespect or anything, he's a great player, top 3-5 in the game today easily, but those two are just miles above everyone else.

it depends if Malkin plays up to his potential. Last year yeah he was comparible. 2 years ago i would disagree. If Malkin takes stupid penalties this year and plays so-so then I almost guarantee he is traded. 8.7 mill/ year (same as Sid) could go to 2 great wingers. I expect him to play great this year. He is my favorite player and will be even if he gets traded.
  2. haaaaaaaaaaaa believe me it wasn't Niemi who swept your asses in the conference finals. What makes you think he is good anyways? His save % is nothing special and GAA is a team stat. OP, you're gonna say Greiss is too young when Niemi is going into his first year as starting goaltender, prob won't last but I don't wanna sound like a hater he's just a huge gamble for that price. How can you chirp Turco? Guy has been a gem his entire career and had a bad year behind a poorly put together team last year. He will flourish in Chicago, hawks repeat ainec!!!!!

2 million is not exactly a huge gamble. While I personally don't care for the signing (for the reasons you mentioned in your post), I'd hardly say they invested a ton in him. a 1 year, 2 million deal is pretty much on par with what they gave Nittymaki.

i agree with cizastro, i mean, 2 mil? who cares? they were forking out for nabby, which, don't get me wrong, i love him, but i rly think he just burned himself out every year. and i love turco, but he isn't in his prime at all. i love to watch him play, but he shouldn't be the sharks goalie. and griess is like 21 22? something like that, he is young. and because he backed nabby, he never got to play. so for him, im glad nabby is gone, i want to see how this guy's career plays out. i don't hate greiss, i want him to play more. he needs a chance. now he might get it

but ty for getting the crosby out of this thread, i mean shit. go start your own. let ovechkin come in (he belongs on the sharks btw) but f crosby

  7. Oh I thought his arbitration was closer to $3 mill but I think I overreacted due to the thread title lol
Edit: It was 2.75 but I guess he can sign for less

look how good he was in the olympics surrounded by other talented players

nash rapes imo, not ovechkin-crosby level obv, but he's in that next tier

oh, and Chris Pronger's 5 yr, 6.68M cap hit contract disguised as a 7yr, 4.91M cap hit is OK as well?

It has everything to do with structure. % of money towards the end of the contract TRIPLED from the 17yr to the 15yr contract. Another thing the NHL and Bloch didn't approve of was the variation from NMC to NTC. Although not confirmed, chances are there is a NMC throughout the contract.

Um.... No... He's an idiot! The stupid ass got the same amount of money that the Hawks where offering him. Fuck him!
  17. They have to get some players who don't disappear come playoff time. Someone forgets to tell them, and they don't seem to care, that it's a whole different season then. For a start, Joe Thornton should grow a little heart.
