saw the rooney thread and couldn't agree more with djg there, rooney's bycicle kick is overrated.
there are tons of nicer and more important goals.
which one is your favourite?
i have 2.
I was there on The Kop when SG scored this screamer. Hands down happiest moment in my life.
and this is just pure skill from one of the greatest and prolly most underrated player of all times.
now you. -
without clicking on it, you are in france so i reckon its gonna be Zidane's CL final goal.

For me, its another rooney goal, i just like the way hes having a disagreement with the referee before so hes hit this out of frustration.
I dont know how to embed if someone could that would be great thanks -
That goal is so much better than the overhead kick
There are a few goals I will always remember. The bergkamp one you posted, another of his against Leicester. The rvp volley against charlton. Di canio's volley was incredible. But the best goal ever is still probably van basten -
Of the goals you posted, the Gerrard video is better. Looking at it from strictly a goal point of view and not the extent of the game, the strike he hit and location was incredible. The other was good not because of the move, but because of how he got it back and was stay strong on the ball to push the other guy off. The move really isn't even that amazing. Still the strike is better imo
-
Sorry Davee,
I enjoy gerrad goal.. but that is very common goal... Rooney off a deflection is much more difficult.
I think Dani Alves goal( this weekend ) is more difficult of a strike then gerrad.
Not even berkamp best goal.. but very brilliant of a striker. -

It almost seems like he didn't mean to score, but was just gonna hit it as hard as he could out of frustration and if it went over oh well. Plus after he scores he runs up to the ball and hits it again, making me think he was mad about something. Look at his faceOriginally Posted by Sdanby

Yea, I think that was pure rage as he looks so half assed when he strikes it. Love it! -
Bergkamp v Argentina '98 was better. Zidane's goal is def one of the greats. Volleys are just impossibly hard to execute which is why Rooney's goal is so sick aswell. I can remember Paul Scholes knocking in a few great volleys back in the day.
Oh and Rocky, we get you don't like soccer so why troll every soccer thread or comment whenever its mentioned? If you dont like soccer just fuck off and stay out of the thread. -
Ryan Giggs v Arsenal 1999 FA cup semi final replay. Picks the ball up well inside his own half, ran the length of the pitch skipping past half the Arsenal team to blast the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net. Perfection.
-
dude, i'll try not to rant but how can you say that was a common goal?
That was the season Chelsea wanted to sign Gerrard, all season long every fuckin media was full of Gerrard and his possible move to chelsea. 1 day before the game he gave an interview where he said - "I don't want to wake up in the UEFA Cup tomorrow"
Liverpool needed a win with 2 goal cushion, and at least 3 goals to go through to the knockout stages. olimpiakos scored in the first half, pool being a goal down it seemed like champions league and possibly Gerrard's career at Liverpool is over.
It was more than 'just' a goal. That was a moment of history.
whats up with all the OTers who cant embed though? click on the effin video button when replying and paste the youtube link. it really isn't rocket science. -
Gerrard has scored alot of spectacular and important goals. His goal against West Ham in the cup was both. Rooneys goal was a great goal but hugely over-rated! Dennis Bergkamps goal is def top 3 for me, his first touch is unreal. Will post my pick later, need time to think
-
Lots of nice goals, but this def gets my vote:
-
how is there no messi clip ITT yet?? I'm at work so I can't spend too much time searching..this video might not be great but the guy is god.
-
i did post three arsenal goals...
and it was a well structured counter attack against the best team in the world to take the lead, i was also drunk in a bar in thailand when i saw it live, so that prob adds to it as well. obv the finish isnt all that special, but just one of my recent favs. i remember when wilshere played the one time ball out of the back, i looked at a friend and said "goal". -
hahaha <3. You are right, I didn't even notice you did. Ya I guess the counter was good, but the finish wasn't special hence why I don't think it was amazing.
-
yea, i just dont think a finish has to be amazing for a goal to be pretty amazing. when a guy starts a run prob 70yds from goal and a combination away from him ends with him placing a one touch ball into goal, that's what i really appreciate about the game.
obv zidane's volley is an amazing piece of technical skill, as are the other volleys itt, and i think they are great, i like a good combination goal just as much. -
Outside of the wonder goal scored against Man United, I'd say this was Henry's best goal in an Arsenal shirt, seeing how it was against their hated rivals in Tottenham Hotspur.
-
lol 1 too many arsenal goals itt. jk.
If there is a footballer I did not expect itt is Matt Le Tissier.
he was outsanding tho. -
As an englishman, it pains me to select an Argentinian goal, but this is one of the better "team goals" you will see.....
