Ok, I promised this thread so here it is. Ask me any questions you would like, and I will answer them as truthfully and honestly as I can. Please don't be ignorant. All responses will be thorough and to the point.
I will quote all questions and reply in turn.
Understand all responses to military related questions will be based on a mid level leadership (Platoon Sergeant and below) mentality. For any of you who do not know, I was Military Police. My background includes general law enforcement activities (obviously), Traffic Accident Investigations, SWAT, Sniper training, U.S. Army Recruiter, and several deployments. I spent time in Germany, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Korea, and several duty stations stateside either as a permanent station or for training purposes.
Fire away, and I'll continue this tomorrow for the morning crew. -

Same question as last night, as a Ron Paul voter and member of the military, what are your thoughts on this article from Ron Paul's website, which argues that we should withdraw from Afghanistan?
Edit: I'd also like to know if you've ever seen the movie Billy Madison, and if so, did you find it funny, and if so, who was your favorite supporting character? -

I believe everybody should be afforded the right to serve if they so wish. As long as the standards are the same that's fine. The only problem I see with allowing homosexuals into the military is that they may be treated unfairly if it's openly known.

I can't speak to the opinion of others specifically, but in general most military guys are "macho" men and don't like teh gheys. Take that FWIW. -
1. Do you think occasional marijuana use is worse than occasional alcohol use, and if so, why?
2. Do you believe in evolution?
3. If a non-flamer (someone who you can't "tell" is gay in any way shape or form, even though he is) gay man volunteered for the military, never told anyone he was gay the whole time during his service, and served his country for several years, going on missions and so forth, and then after getting out of the military told you he was totally gay, but still acted identical to how he always was, other than finally admitting that to you after you both got out of the military, in that specific scenario, would you instantly automatically hate him now?
4. In the long run, do you think earth would be a better or worse place if religion no longer existed in any way shape or form at all anywhere?
5. What was the most significant/lifechanging thing you saw with your own eyes while you were in the military? -
LOL, funny you ask.
When I was 7 years old, I was tortured by being called a girl all the time because of my name. So I told everybody on my baseball team to call me Robert when I signed up (middle name). So half the people in school called me Robert, half Shannon...and a few called me Shannon Robert. It was all fucked up. By the time I was a Junior in H.S. I didn't care anymore but I answered to all 3. Now it's just Shannon, and I like it because there aren't many guys named that. -
I think this quote basically sums up my feelings on this topic:

"Ultimately, it is up to the Afghans to decide who will rule them and how and it is not up to Washington to make that call as long as terrorists are not using the country as a base to attack the United States. " -Ron Paul
If you want to ask more specific questions, please feel free.
Yes, I saw Billy Madison, and it's funny as shit. My favorite supporting actor in that movie is Bridget Wilson ( I think that's her name ) She's so fucking hawt it's ridiculous. I'd love to beat the brakes off of that ass! -
I like it. I put Sideburns before Veronica though.

The only reason I would think it any "worse" than the use of alcohol is the fact it's illegal. Otherwise, I don't think it's worse whatsoever.

You mean the theory of evolution? I was raised as a Christian, and hold to those beliefs. That said, there is some merit to the theory of evolution. I believe a higher power (God) created this earth and the creatures on it. It's very possible (in fact I believe it to be true) we as homosapiens have evolved since our creation to become what we are today.
LOL @ this question. I don't hate gay people. I just do not agree with their lifestyle, as it conflicts with my religious beliefs. So no, I wouldn't hate him.Originally Posted by bfactor

I am very biased on this subject, as you know. I understand there is a long ist of horrid things that have taken place in the name of religion. That said, I believe those things took place because corrupt people were in positions of power and used religion as an excuse to attain personal goals, more power, and wealth. I believe at the core of all religion there are teachings of peace and good will. Since I believe this to be true, I think the world would be a better place if everybody practiced the values taught within religion...and not necessarily just Christianity.Originally Posted by bfactor

Significant? The loyalty and selflessness of brothers in arms when confronted with life and death situations.Originally Posted by bfactor

Life changing? The realization that I wasn't 10 feet tall and bulletproof. The first time I was wounded I quickly dropped the hero bullshit. I learned to appreciate just how valuable this life we have been given is, and not to take anything for granted. Everyday above ground is a good day. -

I think you might have missed this on page one, I would value your opinion on this subject. (Of course if you don't want to answer it that's fine too.)

I am playing poker for my career as we speak. Well, I'm giving it a shot anyhow. I am playing live cash games, and doing very well. I don't think it's less than noble and/or selfish in any way. I am completely fine with it.

How can you fault someone for making a living doing what they love to do? I couldn't find a job making what I am making playing live cash games right now...perhaps after I finish my MBA that will be different, but we will see. -
