This past school year I've been attending Texas State, but have always enjoyed playing the game of baseball. I also played competatively up until sophomore year in high school (only stopped because I had other interests at the time, and chose it over baseball). I never gave any thought in trying out and playing for Texas State just because it's a well developed program, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it anyway.
Recently, the university from my hometown started a new baseball program, which they'll start their first season next year. They also hired a coach that played like 15 years for the Astros so it seems promising. I've been growing a lot of interest in it, and they are currently doing their recruiting. Since the start of the year, I've been doing a lot of back in shape workouts, and have also been working with my baseball mechanics with others that play the game; So it's not like I haven't been keeping up with playing the sport. I was curious what some of you would have to say about it. The downside is leaving a pretty good school for a smaller one with fewer academic programs, I currently have 2 years left, and I just finished all my basics, so as far as my major is concerned, there are a few different directions I could take. I will probably choose to finish my Masters back at Texas State or a different school, so maybe some of you have some opinions on what you think about getting a bachelors at a smaller school compared to a larger one.
Tx State is also a fun school with a lot of students, with many things usually going on. You can consider it the average party college town. Whereas this smaller university (and also my hometown) is more of the older student body type, less happening, type of atmosphere. Tx State is only 1 hr. and 45 min. away. Most importantly I do want a good education, but at the same time, play competative baseball for a team in which I am capable of playing for. Any suggestions, ideas and questions...Thanks... -
hah if you want a good education and to play baseball leave texas st. if you want to fuck a bunch of sluts, party, and enjoy college (minus the baseball) stay at tx state. I lived in san marcos for a year, besides the fact that the bars close at midnight, its fucking fun as hell there. It really depends on how much you want to play tho, if it was me id be playing ball.
-
I would leave and play ball. I don't have many regrets in life, but I regret quitting baseball. San Marcos will still be there when you get done.

if you're not looking at baseball, or the baseball industry, as a profession, why would you choose your school based upon their baseball program? That makes no sense to me.
Stay @ TX St. If you're that interested about getting back into playing find a league where the players are serious about it and join.
Just ask yourself thi...are you willing to compromise your education to play baseball? It would be different if you had a realistic shot at becoming a professional because you would still have the opportunity of schooling later on in your life...but i just can't see leaving a good school like that to go to a lesser one to get on their baseball team. -
my opinion is that you sir easton are a piece of shit. You are a pillow biting, pickle sniffing faggot, and you deserve to get aids and die. You have no chance of making any baseball team, unless its in hell as the devils catcher. gfy and gtfo of p5's. Everybody please help in flaming this dickhead. He joined our p5's money fantasy baseball league, then refused to pay after the draft. he then dropped all of his players into the waiver/freeagent pool just to make sure the rest of us couldnt do the league as well. He is a giant piece of moose shit.
gfy and gtfo -
I've been to Texas State, and it could possibly be one of the ugliest college campuses of all time. It's about 30 minutes from Austin, too, which is just like a slap in the face considering how nice that university and campus are.
And if you are looking for a good education...Texas State??? As far as I've heard, their standards aren't exactly sky-high.
So considering that I don't like Texas State, I certainly wouldn't stay there, especially if you could play baseball at your other school choice. If you want a good education, atmosphere and beautiful campus (especially in comparison to the shithole known as San Marcos), I'd look into transferring over to UT. You're not gonna play baseball, but you'll get the entire college atmosphere with great surroundings and tons to do. -
lmao @ popper - "everybody please help in flaming this dickhead" - i lol'd

ASU ftw

Some good points. I guess one problem is I honestly don't know how the schools compare between the two. I still do think Texas State is a good school, but at the same time do know it's not the best. My top concern of course is being able to get a job when I graduate, and which school might look better. Of course this is only for a bachelors.

Yeah, this guy is an unapologetic piece of shit. My suggestion/idea for you would to be to stop being such a queer. To be honest, you probably suck way too much to play ball anyways, if you gave up on the game when you were 16, you just don't have it in you kid

well dont get me wrong, im sure he handles the bat and balls pretty well, but that doesnt mean you will be good at baseball you fudge funnelling faggot.
